Theswiveleyeballsinthesky · 25/09/2025 07:56

Because of course they do

https://t.co/fQqhHm5Mgv

despite Ed Davey blathering on about definitely implementing the equality act, the lib dems still clearly don't give a toss about women

Chris has taken to twitter ti say that he's only getting grief because he's "the wrong sort of woman". Chris is of course not any kind of woman because he's a man

Well that’s one reason not to vote for them.

MildredismyNane · 25/09/2025 07:59

LibDems will never be anywhere close to power again. Thank god.

MoltenLasagne · 25/09/2025 08:00

FFS, every day they prove why I cancelled my membership and make me question how I was ever a member in the first place.

Bonden · 25/09/2025 08:03

What a set of fools they look.

BernardBlacksMolluscs · 25/09/2025 08:04

What’s the plural of doofus? Doofi maybe?

anyway, the Lib Dem’s continue to enthusiastically fuck up any chance of looking electable and if anything, I shall be not voting for them even harder than previously

wantmorenow · 25/09/2025 08:17

Lib Dems are not reading the room. Idiots and no respect for women.

Coatsoff42 · 25/09/2025 08:18

They should just get rid of the women’s award. It’s less offensive than to say, ‘we don’t like women, we prefer pushy, overbearing, bullying men’

I cant see what actual women’s issues he’s campaigned either, looks like only trans issues.

Theswiveleyeballsinthesky · 25/09/2025 08:18

the award is in the gift of Liberal Democrat Women. Do they never once stop and examine their own internalised misogyny that the best women they could find is a man?? That there were apparently no actual women as worthy of this award as a man??

OP posts:
MarieDeGournay · 25/09/2025 08:56

The woman the award is named after died of breast cancer - an overwhelmingly [I know not 100% exclusively] female illness.
I assume her family were consulted and were OK with the award being given to a trans identifying man, but I think the link to breast cancer gives it an extra layer of inappropriateness.

NebulousSadTimes · 25/09/2025 09:05

It's hard not to see it as a deliberate fuck you to ALL women, including their own wives, mothers, sisters and daughters.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 25/09/2025 09:45

What a shame that there were no women in the Lib Dems considered worthy of such an award.
Sad times.

BlueLegume · 25/09/2025 09:53

Interestingly the post by LibDemWomen on X is the single only post made recently where comments have not been permitted. Surely if they were so comfortable with the award going to this they could back up a negative comments. They hastily have posted other X comments and guess what….all the comments are relating to the award going to the trans person. I have no doubt this person is excellent at their job but they are not - according to British law - a woman.

Simplegazette · 25/09/2025 10:01

And yet the LibDems continue to make gains in local elections and are taking control of more local authorities.
Voters look past the national party values when voting locally, at least for the LibDems.

When I've challenged the local prospective councillors a few years ago on their stance to make all school toilet blocks unisex they say it's not a local issue, but I just can't vote for them locally, as many people seem to do.

Whatareyoutalkingaboutnow · 25/09/2025 10:13

When their local rep comes knocking, and they do, I will tell them exactly why I won't be voting for them. Morons.

lcakethereforeIam · 25/09/2025 10:45

I briefly met Patsy Calton, she seemed a lovely woman. I don't know, if she were still alive, if she'd have gone along with the trans nonsense. I like to think she wouldn't have.

FranticFrankie · 25/09/2025 10:50

Lib Dems have lost the plot
Oh wait.... they never had the plot in the first place
Unless the plot wore a frock

Glamourreader · 25/09/2025 10:50

I've no idea why any woman would continue to show up for the library dems, they make their contempt abundantly clear

ComemosZanahorias · 25/09/2025 10:55

Two of my closest friends are paid up LDs. It feels cruel to open a discussion with them about this but I’m keen to understand how they manage the cognitive dissonance - because I know they don’t believe TWAW - and how they reconcile swallowing this nonsense against wider party objectives.

BlueLegume · 25/09/2025 13:44

The most insulting thing is that both the recipient of the award and the actual Lib Dem’s have got Patsy Calton’s name wring referring to her as Patsy Carlton - surely that is not acceptable.

BlueLegume · 25/09/2025 13:49

Wrong name - it’s the Patsy Calton Award - I can’t post the screen shots from X but surely the social media team check this first - it’s just wrong.

Arran2024 · 25/09/2025 15:52

I have a Lib Dem Mp. I have written to her and told her I won't vote for her while her party pulls stunts like this. She is a working mother of 2 - she is exactly the sort of woman the Lib Dems should be celebrating, not a man.

WallaceinAnderland · 25/09/2025 15:54

They should be called the Liberal Menocrats

NebulousSadTimes · 25/09/2025 16:40

That just strengthens my opinion that it's a fuck you more than anything, especially more than a mediocre man deserving the prize. He'll know that deep down. I suppose we might pity him, if we thought he deserved it.

BlueLegume · 25/09/2025 16:44

@NebulousSadTimes brilliant username - I wonder what Dr U and Sandie Peggie make of all this?

But yes you are completely correct. Any award should reflect the person it was named in honour of as much as the recipient. Sorry for my misspelling I was quite incredulous TBH.
