Indeed.

This constant false comparison to people getting the correct sex hormones for their body to a group of those who demand hormones in quantities that are not naturally produced by bodies of their own sex is dangerous to those patients. But it is also just emotionally manipulative.

Dr Kamila Kamaruddin, a GP and lead clinician at the East of England gender service, agreed there had been an increased incidence of GPs not prescribing hormone treatment, citing a lack of expertise or saying that it is not funded under a shared care agreement.
“We have had instances where GPs have been prescribing for many years and then decided not to prescribe anymore for various reasons,” she said, adding that the reason many hormone treatments were unlicensed for trans people was because medical companies couldn’t do random trials on cisgender people.

So the East of England ‘gender’ service is being run by a trans identifying male that delighted in confusing his female patients who allowed him to do far more intimate examinations when he told them he was female then when he was presenting as male. He seems remarkably relaxed about practice unlicensed drugs that are known to harm people. I wonder what his liability insurers make of that?

The TM who doesn’t want to get their blood work done in case the Dr finds something that may stop their hormones sounds concerning. Are they saying that they don’t care about their health no matter what T is doing to their body?

Not without a diagnosis that's it needed though, which is why GP's are finally doing the right thing. If there's no medical reason for prescribing medication it should not be prescribed.

GPs are protecting people and acting ethically to refuse to prescribe medication that is unlicensed for a condition and with no long-term safety data. This should only be done as part of an ethically approved clinical trial.

This idea that people who aren't lying about what sex they are are given hormones on demand without question is also absolute nonsense. Look at the resistance to prescribing HRT to women in menopause and the way women with endometriosis are treated.

An old friend of mine had a breast reduction a couple of years ago. She wanted a double mastectomy but the consultant refused , citing the possibility she might have regrets later. She is a 71 year hetero woman , just got fed up having very large boobs.

So no , these treatments are no easier for biological women to access. Precautionary Principle innit

I think it reflects how large numbers of GPs and health professionals have been secretly GC all along but keeping quiet due to the take over of the NHS by TRAs.

As soon as GPs have been able to have nothing to do with this, they've dropped prescribing cross sex hormones and washed their hands of the whole nonsense.

The Cas report helped a lot. I'm a GP and was never comfortable prescribing, now I feel totally confident to say no, I have had no training in it. It's best left to specialist gender clinics. No other mental illness/dysphoria is treated in this way. I don't agree with my anorexic patients that they are indeed fat and should stop eating.

I think it is possible to have some sympathy for the interviewed individual on the stress and difficulty in unexpectedly losing access to an existing medicine regime (something that happened in a wholly different context to me when I moved GP surgeries) whilst being generally encouraged that GPs are pushing back on being involved in this mess.

And to say "cisgender" get prescription drugs without question." literally that is the point of a prescription, so that a professional can determine if it is the correct treatment.

God these people seriously cannot even hear or understand what they say out loud.

Exactly. No one is given prescription medication without question. That's literally the point of a prescription.

There’s also an insinuation that we don’t get told we’ve aged beyond the “safe” window for supplanting hormones during menopause, or find that the what we’ve been prescribed isn’t available due to global sodding shortages, etc…

I actually get Androfemme prescribed (not via nhs - long story to do with past health) but have to pay for a blood test every 6 months. I do it because they check all is ok and because. Feel so much better on it. It’s mad to think you can just dole out much stronger testosterone prescriptions to biological women without checks!

they outright dismissed my suggestion to “just go flat” with breast cancer. It wasn’t a need to be fair but there was no clinical reason not to. But I agree that the way I was thinking then is very different to now, a couple of years down the line.
