Any Mumsnetters planning on going to this?

To introduce myself, I’ve been a member of Mumsnet for several years but don’t post very often and I don’t think I’ve ever posted in this section before. However, I am very active in GC circles on Twitter/X and although I’m an anonymous account, I have nearly 9000 followers/followed, So I’m probably mutuals with many of you on there.

I’m thinking of going to the LWS event in Hyde Park next weekend. I’m a bit nervous about attending as I’ve never been before, and I’ll be becoming on my own. I’ve got no intention of speaking myself, but want to experience the event and listen to others talking.I just wonder what it’s like if you’re on your own, do people talk to you? Will people think I’m crazy if I just go up to random women and introduce myself?

what happens afterwards? Do people generally go to a pub or similar? Or is that just for people who know each other?

Sorry for all the silly questions, I really would like to go, but my confidence is low as I recently spent a long time in hospital and my mobility is still not 100% plus I’m not in a great place emotionally after my husband died earlier this year.

Thanks

I can’t make this one but yes, it’s very friendly & everyone’s welcome at the pub. If your Twitter following is that big then there should be plenty of women who’ve heard of you!

thanks, that’s reassuring. I don’t think anyone’s heard of me really, as I said I’m anonymous on there, my profile picture is a rabbit ha ha.

I meant if you introduced yourself with your Twitter handle?

Oh yes, I see what you mean now, God sorry I'm being thick! I didn't think of that, because apart from the obvious famous people, I'm no good at remembering peoples Twitter names

Just checked and I've got 8.7 K followers on Twitter, but it's just mostly me following and following back people who seem to know what a woman is ! 😁

I think I will go. I need to keep myself busy and get out of the house and it'll be nice to meet like minded women

Do it!

Yes, I'll be there and we all go to the pub afterwards.

Great, hopefully I'll feel well enough to go, and I'll see you there! Smile

Hi, I’m in a similar situation mobility wise so haven’t made a London one. I went to Brighton one a few years ago and it was pretty rageful, many more tras to sex realists. I stayed on the perifiury mainly, the tras were very aggressive so LWS were pretty much keeping security , then there was an incident after when they LWS were abandoned by police . However I dont believe it’s like that in London, I haven’t managed it yet, never used my wheelchair on public transport! But I know there are plenty of regular attendees. Maybe join LWS FB, may be contacts on there.
