Shame Greer and the vile Patrick Harvie are still on there.

Oh dear, how sad. Never mind.

I'd just read this

Maggie Chapman dropped as top Greens candidate for Holyrood 2026 | The National https://share.google/yZSlIDKhk6JUDqfor

I'm assuming this reduces her chances of getting in again (I don't want to say reelected because, iiuc, no-one ever actually voted directly for her) but doesn't entirely rule it out.

Oh dear, what a shame 🎻

RoyalCorgi · 21/07/2025 15:57

It says she's still second on the list, so that gives her some chance, unless the Scottish Greens lose nearly all their MSPs. They have seven at the moment.

Fragmentedbrain · 21/07/2025 15:58

But a guy called Q (they them) has. It's not like they're going to improve this time around.

ThreeWordHarpy · 21/07/2025 17:26

There are other names on the list that are not unknown in these parts, like Ellie Gomersall. So I don’t think there’s much hope of them rediscovering their core aims of protecting the environment and the future of the planet.

Mridul Wadhwa is on the list for Edinburgh in 7th position. I don't understand the list system. Would Wadhwa stand a chance of getting elected?

There are only six MSPs per region so Wadhwa has no chance.

For those with strong constitutions this the thread that has been following all the crazy inside the Scottish Greens. It now seems that some members are demanding recounts including Gomersall. It also transpires that if the party had kept its planned election weighting by sex Chapman would have won. Only the Supreme court ruling meant that that would have meant accepting women were biologically real so they scrapped it. So Chapman's confusion about what women are lost her the position. You have to laugh.

Oh how delicious.

And I know there are still some nutjobs high up in the list, but I'm relieved that Wadhwa isn't one of them.

There are eight regions, and the Greens have one MSP from the list vote in seven out of the eight. So it's only really the person at the top of the Greens list in each region who's got a chance of getting in.

Desperately sad news.

Maggie Chapman has not made the list for the next elections.
Abhannmor · 22/07/2025 17:45

I'm a big fan of PR in general. Having lived under both systems. But ' lists' should play no part imo. That's not democracy. It's like ' we'll decide who you voted for.' But harsh on Chapman - she's every bit as bonkers as Harvie.

Plasticwaste · 22/07/2025 18:21

Is there anyone sane left at the Greens? What a hollow shell it's become.

Thank you! I hadn't understood it properly. That's cheered me up no end.
