"Jamie Wallis, who is now known as Katie Wallis and uses female pronouns, represented Bridgend from 2019 to 2024."

opening line

A picture of a transgender woman with straggly brown hair tied back, wearing dark eyeliner, lipstick, large hoop earrings, a white blouse and a blue cardigan, with a red crossbody handbag.

In this case, he hasn’t legally changed his name so they can still refer to him as ‘Jamie, who wishes to be known as Katie’.

They refer to him as Ms Wallis though.

Except in the intro, where the reporter, Stephen Fairclough, uses the possessive pronoun "their'.

Is this the one caught running from a car accident wearing heels? Before he was out?

Poor wife.

Yes, it is.

myplace · 19/05/2025 16:24

See, I don’t think he’s intentionally trans in any way at all. I think he was busily enjoying cross dressing, got caught out in public, and is doing the trans thing to give himself a little insulation from scandal. Because being trans is stunning and brave, whereas common or garden cross dressing is an embarrassing hobby for a married MP.

FancyNewt · 19/05/2025 16:26

He ain't ever going to pass is all I'm saying.

DogPawsMud · 19/05/2025 16:29

Remember that Stonewall umbrella.

40 years old …he has had several hard paper rounds.

Missed that bit! They were covering all bases 🤣

myplace · 19/05/2025 16:33

I know, @RedToothBrush , but he had no intention of coming out. He had been blackmailed, was divorced. He did not intend to publicly transition.

IDareSay · 19/05/2025 17:45

The BBC will pander to rapists and paedophiles when it comes to pronouns, but an ex-Conservative MP is just too far...

fashionqueen0123 · 19/05/2025 18:04

I just read this too and came here to see if someone had posted about it!

He did what in heels?!

Wallis was wearing a black leather mini-skirt and heels when he left the scene of the crash

Here's an interesting way to cover the case, and all the bases, in one go:

www.walesonline.co.uk/news/wales-news/jamie-katie-wallis-mp-live-31672694

refers to 'Katie' Wallis, and uses she/her.
They also selected this photo, and two others, as illustration of who Ms Katie Wallis is, and they use '[sic]' very tellingly when quoting his own barrister's misgendering of him!

Around 15 minutes after the hearing's scheduled start time, Ms Bahra had said her client was late because "a member of the press started to follow him [sic] and he took haven in Tesco Express".

edited to ad that I got that walesonline link from

I think that he's unravelling. His entire life has been consumed by his fetish. 1st his wife left him (2020), then he gets publicly outed and lost his job all whilst going through a long and probably acrimonious divorce. Now, in the final, devastating blow to his ego his ex-wife has moved on and rebuilt her life whilst all he has left is his fetish.
It's a sad but not uncommon story that many trans widows will recognise, as will many abuse survivors who managed to get away.

murasaki · 19/05/2025 20:33

Well he's brought it all on himself. I have deep sympathy for his wife and not one iota for him.

I was going to comment about potential causes but thought better and will stick with a very hard paperound🤣

It's been updated and no "their" anymore.

There are no pronouns for Wallace at all in the BBC report now

Evidently the Beeb is in a tizz and doesn't know what to call Wallis. Despite saying that Wallis "uses female pronouns"

Which does make a change from the Corporation's habitual usage.

Interesting.

ICouldHaveCheckedFirst · 19/05/2025 20:54

His lawyer (barrister?) has asked for a psychiatric report. Oh to be able to read it....

TheCatsTongue · 19/05/2025 20:59

You can never tell.

That image made me laugh out loud. Tragic!

And also... his own barrister cant even avoid saying He in court. Oh dear oh dear. Not a good look for the first transgender MP.
