Stonewall charity status under threat unless it respects trans ruling

I wonder if this has legs?

In a letter to Simon Blake, the chief executive of Stonewall, Sex Matters said the ruling meant it was law straight away, and said it would refer Stonewall to the Charity Commission unless the advice was withdrawn.

Oh please, please! Stonewall has been lying and causing harm for years. It lost any moral right to charitable status years ago. I have little faith in the spineless Charity Commission. But best of luck to Sex Matters.

Slippery slimy slugs.

"Stonewalls's guidance has always reflected the law"
What, so you put up the reverse of what the law actually is? Is that what you mean?
Otherwise, this is just a bald faced lie!

Agree with this. Didn't they look into Mermaids and give them a wishy washy slap on the wrist?
When they SHOULD have shut them down (and possibly found a way to have them prosecuted)

I know you can only argue legal points at the Court of Appeal but I hope Allison Bailey wins.

Circumferences · 04/05/2025 21:53

The Allison Bailey case has been going on forever!
Surely charities should stick within the law. It shouldn't need bringing to court.

KnottyAuty · 04/05/2025 22:13

Maybe because that is an excellent way to deflect from the £250k they will hand out this year to the Scottish Trans parent company as part of a default diversity fund arrangement. Plus another similar amount to an LGBTQ+ group. £3k doesn't sound like much in comparison when you put it in that context

Igneococcus · 04/05/2025 22:24

Yeah, it's peanuts really but how anyone would pay Stonewall for their wrong advice at this point is beyond me. Meanwhile it's tourist season here at the West coast and our roads are literally falling apart while they throw money at Stonewall et al.

Namechangechanged · 04/05/2025 22:35

250k? Of taxpayers money? Shameful

KnottyAuty · 05/05/2025 20:31

Any news on whether Stonewall has responded to Sex matters’ challenge?!

MissScarletInTheBallroom · 05/05/2025 20:32

Couldn't happen to nicer people.
