David Tennant graciously wishes accomplished presumed uterus haver no ill will

“JK Rowling is a wonderful author who’s created brilliant stories, and I wish her no ill will, but I hope that we can all as a society, just let people be. Just get out of people’s way.” So reckons kind and gracious David Tennant. Anyone else reading between the lines here and coming up with something like ‘women just need to stick to writing lovely stories for men to build their careers on, whilst also remembering about the cooking, cleaning and washing instead of drinking cocktails and smoking cigars, and they should just let men do whatever they want, and get out of their way and if they do this then they are most welcome to continue to exist as ideas in men’s heads and in common parlance as non-men, uterus havers, menstruating people and ideally, gestating people’ ?

Will men get out of womens way?

I do hope the new HP franchise includes a trans/NB actor in one of the roles.
it would be a clear signal that JKR has no issue with trans people, it’s the TRAs and their nonsense that she takes holds a mirror to.

I don’t think that the TRAs would view it that way. In their reality if it happened they’d be convinced it had been forced on the franchise by the producers against JKRs wishes.

ultimately the best person for the job needs to be cast.

Not just Gaiman either, he’s said absolutely nothing about John Barrowman and Noel Clarke, both of whom had serious allegations made against them whilst working on Dr Who, it seems Tennant and Russell T Davies went around on set with their eyes closed.

I wonder what the reason is for his silence about those three men, but he’s happy to shout his mouth off about two, strong, successful, women who know what a woman is? It’s a proper conundrum 🤔

I actually really like Barrowman as a performer, but his compulsive flashing was well known in acting circles for years before it became a story. He was enabled by blokes in the industry who found it amusing, and nobody seemed to think about anyone on set who wasn't laughing.

Barrowman might still have a thriving career if someone had said "maaate" to him early on. But they didn't.

LadyBracknellsHandbagg · 27/04/2025 10:43

Exactly @SionnachRuadh these men enable each other’s poor behaviour, it’s nothing to them and they’re completely oblivious to anyone else’s distress.

DialSquare · 27/04/2025 10:51

I look forward to JKR’s response!

PoppysAunt · 27/04/2025 10:52

Tennant claiming to be some sort of moral authority is utterly ridiculous.

GlomOfNit · 27/04/2025 10:52

On the contrary, I just read that article and thought 'you utter knobend! How DARE you say, just stay out of people's way!'

To my ears it's along the same lines as saying shut up to Badenoch and that she shouldn't exist. How bloody dare you, David Tennant. To think, fifteen years ago, you were MY Doctor, I thought you were quirky and extremely fanciable. And now, every time your oddly orange and wizened face pops up on the media, I genuinely feel my vagina clenching shut. 😂

Trans people are individuals like everyone else. Some have behaved really badly, some are frauds, and some are just people living their lives. I don’t conflate them all.

Neither do we, but in terms of protecting women and girls we need to keep ALL men out and that includes TIM’s because they’re men.

Women shouldn’t have to be arsed with trying to establish who the ones are who ‘behaved really badly’ or who are ‘frauds’, it’s not our job to pander to delusional men, if they’re blokes they’re not welcome, no exceptions.

Is that you Tennant? Yet you have time to come on here and scold women who want to discuss things that are material to our lives, and who understand biological reality.

As I said to another hand maiden earlier, I’m sure there’s are places you can go and suck up to the pathetic misogynists who try to silence women by using their public profiles.

No, it’s Georgia, you know his wife who
tells him everything he need to know ‘about this stuff’, apparently.

Yeah somehow I doubt it. Why is he so afraid to say something out in the open then? He was quick to slag off JKR. He didnt do anything ' behind the scenes' then. He can't back down because he's told the world he has transed his child. If that poor kid decides, when he goes through puberty that actually he's not trans, he has his pictures on the Internet forevermore of him in a rainbow tutu, a t shirt saying he's not straight and his parents hailing their trans child everywhere they can. They will have to admit they didn't protect their child and instead used him to get luvvie brownie points.

People should learn from the Shiloh Jolie Pitt clusterfuck
Afaik, AJ and BP literally never said she was trans or even gender-questioning, people just made assumptions from the fact that she wanted a short haircut, wore 'boys' clothes and wanted to be treated like her older brothers.
Yet for years people were getting screamed at online for 'misgendering' and 'dead-naming' her, with even actual news outlets referring to her as 'John' despite them never saying anything other than it was a nickname she sometimes used.

Then at 16 she rocked up at a premiere with long blonde hair, make up and a fancy dress, clearly not trans, just a girl who in any other decade would have just been 'identified' as someone who had a tomboy phase. TBH if you've spend your entire life since birth with people speculating the degree to which you are going to take after your incredibly good-looking parents, who isn't going to want to try and opt out of that as an awkward pre-teen?

How much harder would it have been for her if they had formally transed her into 'John' in front of the world's media and she'd then wanted to backtrack?

Maaate · 27/04/2025 12:46

I expect we will start to see a lot of backpedaling from parents transing their kids soon - now people are starting to realise what's involved it no longer holds the same cachet.

I do think you have a good point about "cachet". There was a flurry where I teach a couple of years ago, children wishing to be called another name and changing pronouns. It seems less prevalent now, so hopefully it'll just die down.

Because she’s a woman and has skin in the game, she’s also received thousands of rape and death threats for stating the truth about biological facts and how they are material to the lives of women and girls. Because unlike creeps like Tennant she puts her money where her mouth is and actively supports the causes that matter to her, whereas he gets his kicks bullying women who are more successful than him for using what he seems to believe is wrong speak. Wearing a t-shirt with a slogan on it is a piss poor attempt at solidarity with any cause. He’s a misogynist.

Well done her parents, to be honest. It's only a clusterfuck from the point of view of the media and stupid people making assumptions. With the media salivating and giving publicity to 'trans' kids and 'affirmation surgery' giving her the space to explore until she's old enough to make her own decisions and keeping her body healthy probably wasn't that easy, especially in the circles in which they travel,

There was a tiny thread about her recently:

UrsulasHerbBag · 27/04/2025 14:10

David Tennant has every right to his beliefs and his opinions, I don’t agree with him and yes I do judge him for transing his child publicly at 10 years old. Whatever the rights and wrongs of that I judge anybody who uses their child for their own publicity. JKR has a right to reply whether she will or not is up to her. I may be wrong but I have only seen her respond to people who have personally used an attack on her to get themselves headlines. There was no need for DT to say anything about her full stop.

I know, gender ideology is complete nonsense and harmful to women and girls isn’t it?
