David Tennant graciously wishes accomplished presumed uterus haver no ill will

“JK Rowling is a wonderful author who’s created brilliant stories, and I wish her no ill will, but I hope that we can all as a society, just let people be. Just get out of people’s way.” So reckons kind and gracious David Tennant. Anyone else reading between the lines here and coming up with something like ‘women just need to stick to writing lovely stories for men to build their careers on, whilst also remembering about the cooking, cleaning and washing instead of drinking cocktails and smoking cigars, and they should just let men do whatever they want, and get out of their way and if they do this then they are most welcome to continue to exist as ideas in men’s heads and in common parlance as non-men, uterus havers, menstruating people and ideally, gestating people’ ?

I think we know that DT will never admit he's been wrong on this issue.

UrsulasHerbBag · 26/04/2025 21:57

@User5274959 he has a trans child, he bangs the drum, literally wears the T-shirts, tells women he wishes they didn’t exist, I think he very much means it.

I think we know that DT will never admit he's been wrong on this issue.

The trouble is he probably still doesn't feel that he is wrong. It's just us petty women making a fuss.

Strange people have mentioned his career trajectory as I saw an advert for him hosting a quiz show earlier. Made me wonder if the acting works dried up a bit.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe · 26/04/2025 21:59

I hope he sees this thread... odious, obsequious little poor-actor toad that he is.

User5274959 · 26/04/2025 22:00

Ok fair enough, I've not heard other specific comments he’s made. what I said doesn't apply to DT then, but I still think there's a lot of people in that category

Shadowsunray · 26/04/2025 22:00

Isn't that what women have wanted this whole time? To be left to BE women? Without men trying to take our words, our private spaces, our sports? He is so full of shit.

EasternStandard · 26/04/2025 22:00

How very male of him.

TheSecondMrsCampbellBlack · 26/04/2025 22:03

There was a great post on X quoting that picture of Tennant in the T shirt saying “you’ll have to go through me” with “we did”

napody · 26/04/2025 22:03

ErrolTheDragon · 26/04/2025 21:28

maybe he can tell interloping males to get out of women’s way then, and save JKR and the rest of us the considerable bother.

WTF did he mean by that?

This.
'Get out of their way' is not something you say about a 'vulnerable' group. So trans people don't need protections, they just need everyone to just get out of their way and let them have what they want.

TheSecondMrsCampbellBlack · 26/04/2025 22:04

I think he needs to be more kind, no?

It might not be a popular view on here but I don't think Tennant and the like do have the kind of sub text suggested here.

I see it on my fb feed too and resist the temptation to unfriend people

Nice people who will always back the under dog and the "oppressed" and think that's trans people, in what they think is a binary debate. And they don't have the courage, or ability to take a step back and consider that it's not like Section 28 or gay rights. They've been swept along and they think they're doing the right thing and sticking up for the under dog.

It's really frustrating. But as I say, I don't think the majority mean any ill.

Someone shared some pics from the Southampton protest today. Such stupid ridiculous tag lines on the signs like "trans folk are not the reason why your life feels shitty" - what does that even mean!!

I think some people just love a "cause"

He is in showbiz and trotts out a comment about her. Thats an active choice to use her name.

Rather than having JKR listed as not a topic he will be commenting on he keeps making a decision every time to use her name.

He could have his cause without centering a single named person in his ideology.

He and his silly wife are in the process of transing one of their kids.

Used to love him - his How To Train Your Dragon book narrations are a total joy, as is Crowley - but these days I'm afraid 'stupid smug spindly sexist wanker fuck OFF' is my first response to seeing him.

HauntedBungalow · 26/04/2025 22:14

I agree with him. It would be absolutely amazing if men got out of the way, specifically if they got out of places where only women should be.

HobnobsChoice · 26/04/2025 21:32

Good Omens is over due to Gaiman's behaviour. Lots of parts to be cast in the HP TV series

Tennant still hasn't had anything to say about Gaiman, has he? Is women getting out of the way more important than women not being raped?

SionnachRuadh · 26/04/2025 22:17

Maybe an unpopular opinion, but I didn't love him in Doctor Who - I feel he gives a much better performance when he's understated. He's very good at doing a creepy villain.

But I wish actors would leave off with their idea that society looks to them as some kind of moral arbiters. No David, we want you to be charismatic on screen. You detract from that every time you remind us what an absolute muppet you are.

Edited

You're right there are a lot of 'be kind' people who haven't really thought about it and can't see the harm. Coupling gender identity with LGB was a stroke of evil genius which seems to have stopped people's brains working. However, David Tennant has said enough and worn enough t shirts to show he's either stupid or has thought about it and still thinks transing kids is a great idea (evil in other words). I think he's actually stupid rather than evil but he's still a patronising git.

Is that really a question?

yourhairiswinterfire · 26/04/2025 22:21

just let people be. Just get out of people’s way

Easy for a rich, privileged bloke to say, isn't it.

I wonder if the women raped and sexually assaulted in prisons by male prisoners as a result of 'just letting people be' ever cross his mind?
Or the women on hospital wards?
Or the rape survivors retraumatised at rape counselling because everyone who should have had those women's safety and best interests at heart 'moved out of the way' and let a man barge his way in to the top job and use it as an opportunity to taunt them?
Or the girl banned from her own sport for asking a question about a male playing-a male who had no right to be there? Or the women who dedicate their life to training for their sport having their medals and prize money stolen by cheats?

No. Of course he doesn't think about them. He gets to swan around glitzy dos getting his ego massaged, awards and pats on the back from his fellow privileged luvvies for his men's rights activism, safe in the knowledge that it's never going to negatively affect him or his family. Just women and girls who aren't as fortunate as him, and who gives a shit about them, eh?

'Getting out of the way' of the men he's advocating for means the loss of women's rights, protections, safety, and everything that we've built, and he's absolutely deluded if he thinks women are just going to lie down and let all of the examples above become our new normal rather than a horrendous moment in history where everyone lost their fucking minds and decided once again to treat women and girls as second class citizens for the benefit of men. He can get to fuck.

Is that really a question?

The Gaiman subreddits, the last I looked, were denouncing Neil himself but were also hallucinating that DT had been working behind the scenes against Gaiman. Because that's just what we'd expect from a great guy like DT.

I am not convinced.

Oh please. The man is a walking virtue signal.

No way on earth would we not know.

I personally would be more likely to suspect him clinging on to the Good Omens gravy train with all fingers and toes.

You just cannot let go, can you? What he said seemed gracious to me.

He wasn’t being fucking gracious with his t-shirt slogans, nor was he gracious with his previous viewpoints. He was pretty vitriolic towards those with whom he disagreed.

So no, we don’t have to “let it go”, we are allowed to keep the receipts from those who behaved like dickheads but now want to align themselves with the way the wind is blowing when it suits them.

SirChenjins · 26/04/2025 22:40

Sanctimonious wee prick that he is.

Yeah somehow I doubt it. Why is he so afraid to say something out in the open then? He was quick to slag off JKR. He didnt do anything ' behind the scenes' then. He can't back down because he's told the world he has transed his child. If that poor kid decides, when he goes through puberty that actually he's not trans, he has his pictures on the Internet forevermore of him in a rainbow tutu, a t shirt saying he's not straight and his parents hailing their trans child everywhere they can. They will have to admit they didn't protect their child and instead used him to get luvvie brownie points.
