David Tennant graciously wishes accomplished presumed uterus haver no ill will

“JK Rowling is a wonderful author who’s created brilliant stories, and I wish her no ill will, but I hope that we can all as a society, just let people be. Just get out of people’s way.” So reckons kind and gracious David Tennant. Anyone else reading between the lines here and coming up with something like ‘women just need to stick to writing lovely stories for men to build their careers on, whilst also remembering about the cooking, cleaning and washing instead of drinking cocktails and smoking cigars, and they should just let men do whatever they want, and get out of their way and if they do this then they are most welcome to continue to exist as ideas in men’s heads and in common parlance as non-men, uterus havers, menstruating people and ideally, gestating people’ ?

Women are very keen to let them be.

they just keep being rather annoying, with all their death threats and statements that they’ll break the law.

You just cannot let go, can you? What he said seemed gracious to me.

There’s nothing gracious in what he said. He’s covering his back whilst still telling women to shut up.

I agree only women are women but I agree with Tennant that within the law we should just let people be. I would defend a trans person from abuse, at the same time as agreeing with the Supreme Court ruling. I don’t like some of the nasty and divisive stuff I have read, here and elsewhere. We’ve won. Let’s implement it and move on. Let’s leave people alone to live their lives and have empathy for everyone.

Most people, especially women, are, and were tolerant and will continue ' letting trans people be'.
The issue is that trans activists have abused women to such an extent that it is now difficult to forgive and forget. They are now being exposed for what they are through their own words and deeds. After 10 years of every single institution trying to erase women and womanhood on the altar of trans, they can't cope with a week? Let them think on how women felt after being belittled and abused by them.

hamstersarse · 27/04/2025 08:40

It’s hard times for parents with trans kids

DT being one of them has to keep the ‘good fight’ going because if he doesn’t he’ll be exposed as the snivelling narcissist he is.

Ritasueandbobtoo9 · 27/04/2025 08:41

Maybe David Tennant should stick to mediocre acting instead of writing words? Clearly has nothing sensible or useful to say.

LizzieSiddal · 27/04/2025 08:46

Is this the DT who has a 11 year old “non binary” son? And last year wore a “Leave trans kids alone” tshirt at a big awards ceremony and gave shout outs to Mermaids?

He should fuck off telling women what to do and have a think about how he’s damaged his poor son.

CamillaMacauley · 27/04/2025 08:46

Very telling that he’s happy to stick the boot in to JKR repeatedly but remains quiet regarding Gaimen. Shows he thinks who’s worthy of sticking up for and that he doesn’t give a shit about sticking up for women.

Yes, I was going to say the same. This is going to be a tough time for parents who cheered on their kids. I have been wondering about how the parents of dd's classmate who were/are all very supportive of their child medically transitioning feel at the moment.

Yes, the very same person. He seems to think he's some sort of authority. He's not.

KitchenDancefloor · 27/04/2025 08:57

I do hope the new HP franchise includes a trans/NB actor in one of the roles.
it would be a clear signal that JKR has no issue with trans people, it’s the TRAs and their nonsense that she takes holds a mirror to.

I wish I had so few real life things to deal with that I could sit around and pick on the few poor souls in the world whose gender and sex don't line up well.

You know, get all stupidly, self-righteously outraged; trot out know-nothing, self-congratulatory opinions; play the victim for no good reason, act like I should have a say in how other people handle their gender dysphoria, and otherwise be a giant, vicious doofus and bore.

Edited

You don’t get to choose how to handle gender dysphoria by trying to remove sex based spaces, sex based sexual orientation and by trying to remove women’s right to define themselves.

You don’t get to choose to handle any identity confusion felt by a minor by medicalising them in a way that has lifelong implications whilst suggesting any for of talking therapy is conversion and should be banned.

You’re focusing on what exactly, women who have been happy, not the violence and threats from men who feel they lost?

Why is that

Well he is being a more gracious than he was towards Kemi Badenoch.

I wonder if it's anything to do with the fact that both JKR and Mr. Cheap Nasty Lager are both relatively unmelanated?

There’s a few men that fit that bill, including politicians at the top

Or wild idea
that the character ( not the actor who should disappear into the character on the screen ) is the focus of the promo work.

I dont "care" about the actors personal life the same way I dont "care" about the personal life of someone selling me shoes. (unless its court case type material). In a world of digital stalking it important that people are allowed to leave work at work.

And imo that type of virtue signal harms the minority group member. Because why should that "clear signal" actor become a/the "JKR approved trans celeb" not just the actor who nailed the role. Every time for ever to be the "You and JKR how cool was that" actor.

And some TRA would call the actor transphobic forever. Plus some in the industry would blacklist the actor from roles because of their political view or to be seen to be on TRSOH.

allstarsuperstar · 26/04/2025 22:46

Agreed. After the sublime Eccleston, his Doctor seemed shallow and lacked emotional gravitas. It's interesting that he's much more convincing in darker roles. Jessica Jones, as a mind-controlling psychopath, is one of his standout turns.

I couldn’t watch Jessica Jones because he was TOO good at being evil. Absolutely terrifying😂

i wish actors would just do their job and stop pretending they’re morally superior to everyone else. I suppose that’s an act all by itself

it hurts my feelings when they break my fantasy version of them 😉

Giving his opinion on JKR makes his silence on the Neil Gaiman revelations louder than ever.
Another men's rights activist doing what they do best.

Not just Gaiman either, he’s said absolutely nothing about John Barrowman and Noel Clarke, both of whom had serious allegations made against them whilst working on Dr Who, it seems Tennant and Russell T Davies went around on set with their eyes closed.

I wonder what the reason is for his silence about those three men, but he’s happy to shout his mouth off about two, strong, successful, women who know what a woman is? It’s a proper conundrum 🤔

We already know where she stands, why should she constantly seek the approval of these idiots by performatively casting a trans actor?

marmaladeandpeanutbutter · 27/04/2025 10:19

Trans people are individuals like everyone else. Some have behaved really badly, some are frauds, and some are just people living their lives. I don’t conflate them all.

This. He is male arrogance personified. Why should women have to give up spaces, comply, be kind, be empathetic? Is he empathetic to women?
He's a famous millionaire, he could start to fund and campaign for third spaces.

floormops · 27/04/2025 10:21

I just had a bit of a lightbulb moment reading this thread.
Years ago one of my DC (massive Dr Who/David Tennant fan) managed to get a ticket for a sort of "meet the the fans event" with DT and his wife.
It was a much anticipated event and DC was so excited.
It was a massive disappointment, much shorter than advertised, not much interaction with fans, very condescending attitude.
I remember feeling so bad for DC, who was rationalising that maybe DT was tired, had been working hard, maybe other things going on etc.
Actually, now I realise he is just arrogant, rude and misogynistic.
Actors should really stick to the day job and treat their fans with a bit of respect.
