“JK Rowling is a wonderful author who’s created brilliant stories, and I wish her no ill will, but I hope that we can all as a society, just let people be. Just get out of people’s way.” So reckons kind and gracious David Tennant. Anyone else reading between the lines here and coming up with something like ‘women just need to stick to writing lovely stories for men to build their careers on, whilst also remembering about the cooking, cleaning and washing instead of drinking cocktails and smoking cigars, and they should just let men do whatever they want, and get out of their way and if they do this then they are most welcome to continue to exist as ideas in men’s heads and in common parlance as non-men, uterus havers, menstruating people and ideally, gestating people’ ?

Is he returning all funds accrued from Goblet of Fire?
Same question to scummy Watson, Radcliffe and Grint!

SionnachRuadh · 26/04/2025 21:25

"JK is a beloved creator of media franchises that provide many opportunities for male actors to earn a living, but when it comes to the important business of women's place in society, she should just stick to her lane."

UrsulasHerbBag · 26/04/2025 21:26

Are there lucrative opportunities coming up on the small or big screen in the wizarding world?

CaptainFuture · 26/04/2025 21:27

Am sure JK is so sad, such a little twat feels like this..😪

user1471453601 · 26/04/2025 21:27

You just cannot let go, can you? What he said seemed gracious to me.

maybe he can tell interloping males to get out of women’s way then, and save JKR and the rest of us the considerable bother.

WTF did he mean by that?

needmoresheep · 26/04/2025 21:30

He went from hero to zero.

Maybe his bank balance is suffering

HRTQueen · 26/04/2025 21:31

Well he is being a more gracious than he was towards Kemi Badenoch

but the message is the same if you are not agreeing with what males are telling you be quiet

Good Omens is over due to Gaiman's behaviour. Lots of parts to be cast in the HP TV series

CarefulN0w · 26/04/2025 21:35

So should we get out of people’s way or go through DT?

Or DT could respect women’s spaces and rights and maybe move aside himself?

KarCat · 26/04/2025 21:36

Oh so gracious,
Thankyou Mr Tennant for your benevolence.
We should definitely let the poor males posing as females have their own way.
Their wishes obviously supersede our silly little foibles about having safe spaces.

SilenceInside · 26/04/2025 21:37

"Just get out of people's way" is not gracious. At all. It's a perfect expression of a man expecting women to do what he tells them. No. We will not get out of the way.

Orangemintcream · 26/04/2025 21:38

JK also wants to let people be. She’s said so.

She just also wants male people from inserting themselves into female spaces and co-opting female specific things to validate themselves.

WhatterySquash · 26/04/2025 21:38

"Get out of the way of males who claim to be women on the basis of no evidence whatsoever and shove their way into women's spaces, awards, jobs and sports, often harming women in the process. Just let them be. They matter more than you."

Hoydenish · 26/04/2025 21:39

Oh a drive by scolder, hellair there!

Sorry to have not been gracious enuff, en masse, on here. Better?

AnSolas · 26/04/2025 21:40

Can the nice DT please hand back is right to vote? Because it comes with jury duty ( judging and not letting people be ) and well you know ....voting ....which is idealy about forming a half decent social order.

He is a good actor when he is not playing version 3.14159 of himself.

Its sad is he that in need of publicity that he is hanging off JKR coattails while also yelling for a pitchfork?

needmoresheep · 26/04/2025 21:41

JKR isn’t going to let him near any HP stuff.

There are plenty of great actors all too eager to get involved as the TV series. It will provide job opportunities for years for all the crew involved.

Cosmosforbreakfast · 26/04/2025 21:41

'Just get out of people's way'

Stop trying to block men getting into women's spaces and facilities.

WhatterySquash · 26/04/2025 21:41

And yet if it's any other instance of people claiming to be something they're not and taking things set aside for categories they don't belong to, or invading categories for a weaker or smaller category and injuring them, or intimidating people who don't share their beliefs with violent threats, no one says "be kind/get out of the way/let them be". They say "security!".

Wrong side of history David, and no, user1471453601, not very gracious at all - unless your happy with women being told they should just STFU and let the ‘important people’ get on with their ‘important lives’

Why don't TW need to let female people be, David? If they'd done that in the first place there wouldn't have been a problem.

User5274959 · 26/04/2025 21:50

It might not be a popular view on here but I don't think Tennant and the like do have the kind of sub text suggested here.

I see it on my fb feed too and resist the temptation to unfriend people

Nice people who will always back the under dog and the "oppressed" and think that's trans people, in what they think is a binary debate. And they don't have the courage, or ability to take a step back and consider that it's not like Section 28 or gay rights. They've been swept along and they think they're doing the right thing and sticking up for the under dog.

It's really frustrating. But as I say, I don't think the majority mean any ill.

Someone shared some pics from the Southampton protest today. Such stupid ridiculous tag lines on the signs like "trans folk are not the reason why your life feels shitty" - what does that even mean!!

I think some people just love a "cause"
