JKR MIGHT be putting her foot down on the "modern" casting of the remake of her Harry Potter.

But then again if she did it, I wouldn't blame her. Cast Essiedu as Lupin, not Snape! I mean do we all want racists to feel good about hating Snape for most of the series because he's black, or people generally to dislike him because he's a nasty man that's mean to Harry. He's also too young and good looking!

Also it's shown that James and Sirius were horrible to the young Snape. If Snape is black it would seem weird if Harry wasn't shown confronting the possibility his father may have been a racist too.

JKR has always kept close to Harry Potter and after the disgraceful behaviour of the three shits, I'd be hugely surprised if she didn't have sign off rights on the actors chosen on major roles.

Like a pp, I’d be very surprised if she didn’t have the ultimate sign-off on key aspects of the production as the owner of the IP and an extremely powerful one, at that — if she wanted them. I think we can assume that if casting decisions have been made, she’s either approved them, or has made the decision that, having been very involved in key decisions about the film series (which, remember, were being filmed while she was still writing the later books in many cases), she’s decided to take a big step back about this series.

My suspicion is that they might make James Potter black and thereby Harry mixed race. You don't need to worry about the racist element of Snapes bullying if one of his bullies is also black...

Have they cast Harry and Harry’s Dad yet? If not what’s to say they won’t make Harry’s Dad black (thereby removing any racist element of the bullying of young Snape) and Harry being mixed race. Just a thought and I’m sure I’m not the first to have it.
