Does anyone know when Stonewall expanded the trans umbrella to include transvestites et al?

Did they originally just include transexuals as the T - or was it the whole shebang from the beginning?

Anyone have a date - or timeline ?

Or point me in the direction of where to look?

I think it was 2015 they officially adopted the trans cause, but it had been discussed since around 2013.

I can’t recall what the glossary said to start with, but I think by 2018 it included transvestites.

You could check out the various iterations of Stonewall’s glossary on archive.org to see what changed when.

This included 'crossdresser’, ‘transvestic fetishist’ and ‘transvestite’.

The Trans Umbrella Is Older Than You Think

Malcolm Clark had a thread on X about Ruth Hunt's takeover of Stonewall which is very interesting.

Transvestites no longer come under the trans umbrella according to Stonewall.

Up until 24th June last year (2024) Stonewall had crossdressers in its list of transgender categories. As from that date, they are not included.
