The following posted on social media, by a male (and non-trans-identifying) local councillor. In response to a female constituent who was being respectful in the trans debate.

I was saying why am I wrong for caring about people and said I always look out for girls/women the thought nah I just look out for everyone.if I seen a fight I’d go and try and talk them down,if I see someome being picked on I’ll go try to sort it out.
not just girls or trans or whatever,everyone deserves to be safe.

Anyone left wing I’ve spoke to wants unisex/gender neutral spaces.
Infact me and a girl are going to try and plan a protest where I use female toilets and she uses male toilets ,but get others involved too so both make an impact rather than just 1 person potentially going unnoticed"

Christ that's depressing and says a lot about our system of local government and why it's gone to total shit (I work for a council).
