Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

Goodness me. I'd be interested to know how they advised that someone could also withdraw their consent, while being choked. Because they will surely have covered that too? Surely?...

twinklystar23 · 22/04/2025 08:35

Have they also given clear guidance that the law states that people annot consent to their own death? Which could escalate to a criminal charge.
Guess not?

mantaraya · 22/04/2025 08:56

"So a scene that involves choking is not going to show the consent negotiations or safety protocols that you would see if this were practised in real life"

"Consent negotiations and safety protocols"?!. Sometimes I wonder if the people who write this shit have ever actually had sex. In the words of Magdalen Berns - they're so open minded their brains have fallen out.

MightyGoldBear · 22/04/2025 09:19

Ergh. This is what they consider part of "normal" sex that teenagers are having. I really hope they are having the in depth conversations around the damage that pornography is doing. The conversation of why this would even be on the radar of teenagers. The intricacies of consent needed particularly for this!
when most teenagers are still figuring out how to talk to a potential sexual partner in person.

our societies obsession with toxic sex positivity is so harmful. The increasing violence prodominently towards girls and women being glorified by porn is so utterly disturbing.

jodolun · 22/04/2025 09:21

Why can't we be advising young people and people in general not to do "choking" during sex at all? How many women need to be injured or die before we face up to facts that this isn't about moralising and pearl clutching its about safety?

Mumteedum · 22/04/2025 09:22

I saw this yesterday. Prof Monkton is not happy !

It's mind boggling. Sick of porn culture.

notacooldad · 22/04/2025 09:25

Jeez, when I was a teen 'sex ' was a quick feel behind the bike shed. Now it's near death expierences.
It is bloody frightening for teen girls. 'Funny' it's always girls that are getting chocked not the other way round 😒 😡

roxyro · 22/04/2025 09:31

I just think kids in school should be taught about the false representation of women in porn and how porn is made by men for men. Yes, some wonen enjoy porn but this normalisation of certain fetishes is worrying.

We know how youngsters are so impressionable and girls, in particular, like to please their boyfriends. We see this with naked pics sent via phones and web cams. The lads show them to their mates, the girls are humiliated etc.

Getting back to the OP I’m pretty horrified that choking is being normalised in sex education.

EvelynBeatrice · 22/04/2025 09:36

If the school pastoral lead or head teacher or council education dept or whoever who agreed to the material being used can’t be relied upon to know what’s acceptable then a parent group or the governors need to be permitted to do so. Are there no ‘normal’ people in education management now?!

mantaraya · 22/04/2025 10:39

Exactly. Have these people never met teenage girls before? They will "enthusiastically consent" to be the cool girl and then be devastated when their boyfriend tells all his mates and moves on to someone else. A great way to rid young girls of any last shreds of self esteem they might have.

Sometimes I've wondered about starting my own public toilet stickering campaign with slogans like "casual sex is designed for men", "if you're not having an orgasm then why are you doing it" and "that wanker doesn't deserve a naked picture of you".

flyingbuttress43 · 22/04/2025 10:43

We don't seem to hear about women choking men do we? Funny that. Why are we so afraid to say this is not normal and that you should run for the hills if any partner even so much as suggests it. It seems as if the wish to be 'tolerant' and edgy is so strong these days that abusive acts are normalised. A little less understanding and a bit more condemnation please.
