Yes me too :) . It’s funny, I often read her work in the Guardian and as I became aware of the gender issue I started looking with dread for clues in the writing of my favourite writers to figure out where they stood on this. I was ecstatic when I figured out she shared my doubts about GI, especially after reading her essay ‘Why I Stopped being a Good Girl’. Every single word resonated. It was through these women from the Left, whose politics I had always shared, that I knew I wasn’t going mad or getting sucked into a right wing conspiracy or something because I felt so much horror at men in women’s jails and the case about the beauticians in Canada being forced to wax that horrible guy in their homes. Thank goodness for these brave women, Suzanne Moore too, who had so much to lose and in Hadley’s case, young children to care for too. They have made a huge difference to the tone of the debate and helped prove that this was not about Left vs Right wing politics - at least in the UK.
