That is such a classic ‘fuck you’ photo. What a woman. 👏👏👏

LonginesPrime · 19/04/2025 18:58

What is happening?!

I was not expecting that Guardian article to go the way it did!

Lovelyview · 19/04/2025 18:59

I love the fact she's on her yacht!

OP posts:

Love the article. Short and sweet.

There is an hilarious addendum confirming that the female-only rape centre funded by JKR was not named after Stalin’s secret police chief.

“This article was amended on 19 April 2025. The sexual violence support service that J K Rowling co-founded is called Beira’s Place, not “Beria’s Place” as an earlier version said.”

oustedbymymate · 19/04/2025 19:06

I love this

JustSpeculation · 19/04/2025 19:07

At the bottom:

" This article was amended on 19 April 2025. The sexual violence support service that J K Rowling co-founded is called Beira’s Place, not “Beria’s Place” as an earlier version said."

Beria's Place! Beria! I doubt they did that on purpose, but you never know.

The TRAs are comparing her to Tate based on that photo 😁

Oh my word!!!!! A reasoned article from the Guardian! The world stopped spinning for a moment there!

I also want to point out she was a campaingner for women and single mums and refuge shelters not long after her first 3 books were published in 1999/2000 ish, giving a million to a women's DV shelter in Edinburgh (I believe it was) and the co-ordinator was staggered at her generosity. JK had the back of women even then, before she became mega rich and mega famous.

Yes she does seem a real empath who puts her money where her mouth is. I believe she was unfortunately a victim of DV herself also.

nauticant · 19/04/2025 19:25

Let's just say that the views on Twitter about the article are divided:

JKR? Yes, she was, she put out the open statement about it. She also defended her privacy very heavily when the HP books first came out, which ironically fuelled her fame. It's clear to me she was defending her and her daughter up in Edinburgh if she fled from her abusive husband in Portugal.

EasternStandard · 19/04/2025 19:51

Love that photo

The Independent seem to be the last bastion of nonsense over The Guardian. Not sure why

MarieDeGournay · 19/04/2025 19:54

Very surprisingly fair article. Just checking - was it written by one R. Ferret by any chance, that's R. Ferret of No 1 Off Ramp, Goldenbridge..?😃

mrshoho · 19/04/2025 20:04

Joyous to read this. Vindication for our Queen.

And I believe TRAs in meltdown flouncing off from The Guardian.

INeedAPensieve · 19/04/2025 20:06

I'm actually stunned this article was in the guardian.

Wow.

She's a queen, and as per my username, I was already a fan before she started defending our rights and the safeguarding of vulnerable children.

northwestgirl · 19/04/2025 20:12

amazing! thanks for sharing

Catlady63 · 19/04/2025 20:32

I was ready to be appalled by another Guardian article claiming JKR was a transphobe without any facts at all. This is amazing. Owen must be doing a Rumplestinskin and stamping his foot very very hard.

The Twitter link from @nauticant is surreal - men, actual men from their photos, but who am I to say an arrogant misogynistic person with a beard is a man - saying the Guardian is inciting hate and murder of trans people, and another helpfully taking a screen shot for the forthcoming genocide trials. I'm taking that they mean the forthcoming genocide of trans people ordered by the Supreme Court, I missed that bit of the judgement. Otherwise it's to be kept in defence for the genocide of TERFs, to show how completely evil we all were, for following JKR. Not enough to get rid of her, we all have to go, for wrong thinking.

They are mad, and scary, and no I don't want them in a changing room with me, because as a 50 something woman I am a suspect. I haven't been on Twitter in a few years, it has gotten worse.

The lovely Dog Rates on Insta does a weekly catch up on dogs, and the intro is always "all the dogs were good again this week".

Reading the Twitter thread, and some of the very cross posters on MN over the last few days, I'm taking inspiration from this "all the trans rights activists were batshit crazy again this week". Maybe we could do a TRA Rates regular feature.

I think my favourites in the past few days were the ones who came here to tell that we didn't understand the judgement, it meant that Transwomen were Women. All of the media, even Pink News, and all of the Supreme Court judges thought it meant that Transwomen weren't women, I don't know why he was telling us rather than them.

LikeWhoUsesTypewritersAnyway · 19/04/2025 20:35

YAY! 😄
