This headline makes it sound like collecting sex based data is the problem when it is the exact opposite

We should be thankful I suppose, in that they bothered to print it at all. 🙄

Lovelyview · 20/03/2025 10:11

It's a good report despite the headline. I was overjoyed at how clear Dr Sullivan's report is. It gives people in organisations like the NHS very clear reasons to collect data based on sex. I hope the police will also get their act in order.

Maybe the topsy-turvy headline is unwittingly helpful in drawing in the un-GC and frankly confused to reading something they might otherwise not. Maybe?

As much as I would like that to be true, it would not align to their usual stance on such matters. <wistful sigh>

Bizarrely misleading headline.

Indeed, I wouldn't have imagined the Guardian would do it deliberately but the article is reasonably fair - I'm all in favour of whatever it takes to get people engaged!

MassiveWordSalad · 20/03/2025 12:04

Safe to say the author of the article didn’t write the headline!

Still not a word from the BBC online…

flyingbuttress43 · 20/03/2025 17:57

Organisations like the BBC and the Guardian will still be scratching their collective heads over what has possibly gone wrong when they report on the upsurge in rape, sexual assaults, knifings etc. by women....

QAOPspaceman · 20/03/2025 18:05

The writer's done a decent job, but it's buried in the depths of the website, no one will ever see it. It was front page news in other papers

it was all over the bbc this morning, they interviewed Prof Sullivan on the Today programme, plus it was headline news in all the bulletins I heard

I found it via a browser search

Public data should not conflate sex and gender, review says

Author of government-ordered review says biological sex and gender have become distinct and should be recorded separately.
