Scottish Greens Party Political Broadcast 27/2 - abysmal

I normally switch PPBs off but tonight my Mum had dozed off and she had the control for the TV so I was forced to sit through it. I think this is the youngish voter they chose to present it. https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p07jh1pw As I suspected, non-binary (but almost certainly female). Is this going to win them votes at the next election?

How do you mean? Do you mean using a "non-binary person" in their campaign and whether that's going to put people off?

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 27/02/2025 19:35

I mean using a non-binary vegan who fits every stereotype of what a Scottish Green transactivist looks like is not going to win over voters who are increasingly disenchanted with gender ideology and worried by the practical problems it brings in its wake. Gray spoke about the environment, yes, but also supporting trans siblings and other social issues. I am deeply concerned about the environment but I want to see the science laid out and practical, down to earth solutions explained by candidates who look as if they know what it's like to hold down an ordinary job and run a household.

Ah right, I see what you mean. I wasn't sure what you mean by "this" and I'm not in Scotland so didn't see the broadcast. For all I know, the person could have been very switched on and spoken very well about environmental issues. But from what you say, they didn't! I agree, people want the facts. I don't think it's going to win over many people in addition to those who would have voted Green anyway.

Greyskybluesky · 27/02/2025 19:43

Sounds like your mum had the right idea.

WhatterySquash · 27/02/2025 20:02

Ah this is the genius who tried to convince us that NB people are discriminated against because all hairdressers are for males or females only so poor Gray couldn't get a haircut. In a spoken-word-stylee "poem" promoted by some BBC youth channel IIRC.

In light of that it's not a great choice as Gray has so clearly demonstrated having little awareness of reality (even aside from the nonsense beliefs of genderism). And yes I think a lot of the public will switch off as soon as they realise they're having genderbollocks shoved at them yet again.

Greyskybluesky · 27/02/2025 20:14

You are right @WhatterySquash it's in the link that the OP posted along with more navel-gazing 'peotry'

Oh yes I remember that Grin

It’s a recycled advert from years ago, it was ridiculous then, and it is now, Grey is a humorless silly wee lassie

Gingerkittykat · 27/02/2025 20:38

I think Gray is a trans man, in the later videos Gray has a beard and deeper voice.

Here is the broadcast, looks like it's just recycled from 2020 and not new material.

WhatterySquash · 27/02/2025 20:46

Gray NB and fully they-them as far as I'm aware. It's quite common for "NB" females to take hormones and have mastectomies (though it seems somewhat non-progressive to make male attributes the default).

OTOH my trans family member has a female friend who requires the pronouns ze/zir, has a stereotypically feminine appearance (long hair, dresses etc) but also takes hormones and has a wispy beard. For some people it seems like it's just a pick'n'mix.

Thanks, that's interesting. A lot has changed in five years. Has nobody in the Scottish Greens noticed?
