I hadn't seen this mentioned, so I'll just put this link here. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/us/news/2025/02/06/female-swimmers-sue-strip-trans-athlete-lia-thomas-medals/

It would be quite a precedent if they could win this case.

Hairyesterdaygonetoday · 24/02/2025 23:14

Best of luck to them. I do hope one day soon all the women’s sports victories and records taken by men will be correctly reallocated.

Datun · 24/02/2025 23:26

“The UPenn administrators went on to tell the women that if the women spoke publicly about their concerns about Thomas’ participation on the Women’s Team, the reputation of those complaining about Thomas being on the team would be tainted with transphobia for the rest of their lives and they would probably never be able to get a job,’” the lawsuit alleges.

It's difficult to believe, the misogyny is so overt. The university didn't give a flying fuck. Those poor women, I hope they nail them all to the wall.

Supporterofwomensrights · 24/02/2025 23:27

Good luck to them. They'd be putting history to rights...

He’s as much of a cheat as Lance Armstrong so good for those women.

DuesToTheDirt · 25/02/2025 00:23

I guess the lawsuit is not against Lia Thomas personally though - he was a legitimate competitor under the batshit rules.

From CBS News, "The suit was backed by the conservative Independent Council on Women's Sports (ICONS) and the plaintiffs are represented by sports attorney Bill Bock. ICONS and the suit repeatedly refer to Thomas as "a man" and "male" despite her gender identity."

Well, good!

Much worse. Elite cycling was, and still is riddled with doping. In order to compete at top level, they were and still are literally all doing it. Lance Armstrong was the best cyclist, in the context of beating all the others who were also doping.

Unlike Lia, who just cheats by pretending to be a woman.

This is another article about the lawsuit. Allegations of Thomas getting changed in the female CR’s of a waterpark used by members of the public (including children) at the same time.

"The members of the UPenn women's team were shocked that Thomas used the public women's locker at the waterpark and undressed in the presence of children that appeared to be as young as four years old," the lawsuit alleges. "Members of the UPenn women's team do not believe their coach, Lia Thomas or anyone from UPenn advised the operators of the waterpark that a male was using the women's locker room."
Watching Thomas using a public locker room with little girls "was traumatizing to many members of the Penn swim team,

Sanctioning a bloke stripping off in front of four-year-old kids?? Fucking hell.

Bollocks is this ideological. It's a lot more
prosaic than that.

Female participants in the Ivy League Championships, according to the lawsuit, "saw their most important athletic competition purposefully turned into a public spectacle geared to maximizing Thomas' notoriety and support for Thomas shattering sex-based gender norms."

it is quite stark when you see what happened stated clearly.

The current group of competitors in the school athletics events recently is shedding great clarity. Nearly every day a male student athlete is on the podium. And they believe that they deserve to be there.

Helleofabore · 26/02/2025 12:04

And they believe that they deserve to be there.

Here is one of them who was recently excluded trying to reason their way back into the competition.

Good. Women don't need men in women's sport.
