I was watching ‘Who Do You Think You Are USA’ the other day and had to pause it to be sure that, as one of the slebs went into a grand old library to look at the archives for details of his ancestors, the door really did have a picture of a handgun crossed out, below the ‘no smoking’ one. And yes, it really did. Guess those genealogists are known for their gun-totin’ ways.

I'm struck by the contrast in their intellect and their naivety. When discussing their parents online they sound like stroppy young teenagers rather than adults. Clearly massive online radicalisation with neurodivergency and mental health issues going on.

The Zizians tick all the same boxes as the cults of old – murder, intimidation and a messiah-like leader. But they come with some 21st-century updates. Trans, vegan and convinced of their own moral rectitude, they are very much a cult of our time.
