NHS Fife tries to silence nurse - Sandie Peggie vs NHS Fife Health Board and Dr Beth Upton - thread #11

Sandie Peggie, a nurse at Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy (VH), has brought claims in the employment tribunal against her employer; Fife Health Board (the Board) and another employee, Dr B Upton. Ms Peggie’s claims are of sexual harassment, harassment related to a protected belief, indirect discrimination and victimisation. Dr Upton claims to be a transwoman, that is observed as male at birth but asserting a female gender identity.

The Employment Tribunal hearing started on Monday 3 February 2025 and was expected to continue for 2 weeks although at the start of the second week getting everything done in this time period was looking less certain. The hearing commenced with Sandie Peggie giving evidence. Dr Beth Upton started giving evidence on Thursday 6 February.

Bit weird that this has happened all at once just at this point. Going in as an observer only gives me a black screen now.

There hasn't been this level of disruption so far so either someone in their IT has messed up (previously all were muted) or it's deliberate.

Oh my God, this is utterly appalling. At the same time I’m trying not to laugh hysterically.

Why can they not get this RIGHT?

To be fair, the system should be stupid-proof. I joined for first time today and the route in was slightly ambiguous and anxiety-making for several reasons - it should be crystal clear that there is only one possible route for observers joining.

What an absolute shambles.

I noicted that earlier. Everytime someone joins by åhone their number appears on the left.

I am trying to join the tribunal on-line as an observer. I'm assuming that I am stuck in a waiting room until someone allows me in? There appear to be lots of us here!

someone just said there's a big (transphobic slur) on camera. What is wrong with people.

I think the trouble is that the Clerk(?) just emails out the link and a pin (with no instruction that you need to click the "observer" box).

They are using Teams so I don't understand why they can't just mute everybody

Why does the court have a video conference system more suited to the WI than a court? Just make everyone an observer FFS.

Only option should be observer only ... this is ridiculous and will result in the tribunal being held in camera

I'm not a conspiracy theory type, but I agree that the timings looks very suspicious...
