NHS Fife tries to silence nurse - Sandie Peggie vs NHS Fife Health Board and Dr Beth Upton - thread #11

Sandie Peggie, a nurse at Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy (VH), has brought claims in the employment tribunal against her employer; Fife Health Board (the Board) and another employee, Dr B Upton. Ms Peggie’s claims are of sexual harassment, harassment related to a protected belief, indirect discrimination and victimisation. Dr Upton claims to be a transwoman, that is observed as male at birth but asserting a female gender identity.

The Employment Tribunal hearing started on Monday 3 February 2025 and was expected to continue for 2 weeks although at the start of the second week getting everything done in this time period was looking less certain. The hearing commenced with Sandie Peggie giving evidence. Dr Beth Upton started giving evidence on Thursday 6 February.

We're all being booted out. Hopefully so a new session can be established in which muting is applied automatically at each log in.

The tribunal system is bespoke and is notoriously janky. I think the setups were rushed during the pandemic to get online access as quickly as possible. The clerks are usually very good, but there are so many people it must be hard to manage.

Quite amazing the IT is so useless. It should be default that no-one can be seen or heard. Whoever set this software up needs to be fired.

It's really not rocket science to only let people join as observers. It feels like deliberate sabotage to me.

FFS have they just booted everyone out?!

It is agreed by the parties that BU is a TW. Everyone understands (including the judges) that this means he is male. Hospital policy allows BU to use the female changing room. The NHS will probably have to change this unless they want endless cases like this one.
