NHS Fife tries to silence nurse - Sandie Peggie vs NHS Fife Health Board and Dr Beth Upton - thread #11

Sandie Peggie, a nurse at Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy (VH), has brought claims in the employment tribunal against her employer; Fife Health Board (the Board) and another employee, Dr B Upton. Ms Peggie’s claims are of sexual harassment, harassment related to a protected belief, indirect discrimination and victimisation. Dr Upton claims to be a transwoman, that is observed as male at birth but asserting a female gender identity.

The Employment Tribunal hearing started on Monday 3 February 2025 and was expected to continue for 2 weeks although at the start of the second week getting everything done in this time period was looking less certain. The hearing commenced with Sandie Peggie giving evidence. Dr Beth Upton started giving evidence on Thursday 6 February.

Can they not ask the good doctor to prove he is not male by a simple cheek swab test? Because he is lying under oath isn't he? Can't that be addressed?

He previously said he expected others to respect his trans identity. Now he is saying he doesn't expect the validation of others because he knows who he is.

NC - it's not acceptable for one collg to opt out of that role play is the danger that it will break the spell. It's like emporeror's new clothes. Everyone knows you're a man, everyone can see you're a man, but one voice could break the spell. Taht's why it's so important.

BU - going to have to break this down. There is no immersive role play. Not concerned about ENC moment. Just asking collgs to treat me with respect. I'm not a man. Majority of my collgs don't view me as a man. Either way I don't need external validation of people to know myself and who I am. Even if a number of them don't believe my trans ID is valid, wouldn't change who I am and that we all have to treat each other with basic respect.
