The grotesque hollowing out of womanhood - spiked

Starts with Banda being named 'Women' Footballer of the Year

"Clearly these woke Westerners know better than African sports officials about who should get to play women’s football and win women’s prizes."

and ends with the court case

"Where once women were treated as ‘chattel’, owned by their husbands, now womanhood is treated as an ‘acquirement’, to be owned by any bloke who fancies it. Ignore the PC lingo – the Scottish government is fighting for the restoration of misogyny."

The grotesque hollowing out of womanhood

It is unfair, sexist and outright crazy to treat womanhood as an identity anyone can ‘acquire’.

"Strikingly, the only time the cultural elites will confidently say ‘That’s a woman!’ is when they’re talking about a man." Indeed, and this immediately fealty is part of how you know they're actually male. Fascinating.

Brendan O'Neill really lets rip doesn't he? Such a good article.

It's got to the point where men have finally realised we are better people than them, so now, instead of fighting us or criticising us, they have decided to become us.

MarieDeGournay · 30/11/2024 17:17

Well said, Brendan, but the best bit was this quote from JKR:

"JK Rowling, in her inimitable style, wondered if the BBC gave the award to Banda because it is ‘more time efficient than going door to door to spit directly in women’s faces’."
She never fails us, does she?Smile

I love this article!

"The consequences of this grotesque hollowing out of women’s experience, this transformation of womanhood from a real, rooted thing into mere merchandise, are as clear as they are chilling. There is no space, no right, no sport and no prize that can be for women only when any Tom, Dick or Harry – literally – can ‘acquire’ womanhood. The treatment of womanhood as an acquisition, something you can shop for and own, represents a shattering end to women’s rights. Where once women were treated as ‘chattel’, owned by their husbands, now womanhood is treated as an ‘acquirement’, to be owned by any bloke who fancies it. Ignore the PC lingo – the Scottish government is fighting for the restoration of misogyny."

O'Neill is always worth a read. He's been on the case for a good few years. Admirable
