'Further to our statement of 8th November 2024

Edinburgh Rape Crisis Centre apologises to Rosslyn Adams for having alleged that she was transphobic and acknowledges that:

· there was no evidence to support that allegation;

· its disciplinary decision that Ms Adams had misconducted herself was wrong;

· Ms Adams was motivated by a wish to act in the best interests of service users when she questioned how to respond to a service user (as detailed in the Employment Tribunal judgment dated 14 May 2024);

· nothing Ms Adams did constituted bullying or harassment; and

· it accepts the Employment Tribunal’s findings that it harassed and discriminated against Ms Adams because of her protected gender critical beliefs.

Beira’s Place provides an alternative source of support for female victims of sexual violence. A link to the Beira’s Place website is here.'

Excellent. But there was plenty of time before the court case for ERCC to acknowledge this. They chose instead to fight her in court . Despicable.

scandina · 18/11/2024 19:07

I love to see it! Especially the direction to Beira's place.

Amazing work of strength from Roz

Interestingly, this is basically copied and pasted from the remedy judgment!

Thank you Arabella.

I noted that, too, AAA.

MelodyMalone · 18/11/2024 19:11

Not the slightest bit through gritted teeth, I'm sure!

Well done Roz, a true hero 🌟

Tallisker · 18/11/2024 19:23

Two things: why is there a 'hide page' button?

And she's only the second person I know of to be called Rosslyn ☺️

ArabellaScott · 18/11/2024 19:27

Very common for this type of organisation to have a 'hide page' function. To keep women safe in case their abuser sees them on the site.

Yes, makes total sense - much easier to hit that button than flounder about trying to close the page quickly.

I see they are now signposting Beira's Place, as required.

Tallisker · 18/11/2024 20:27

Arabella of course, silly me 🤦🏼‍♀️🙄

Ereshkigalangcleg · 18/11/2024 22:21

I see they are now signposting Beira's Place, as required.

I bet that stung.

NoBinturongsHereMate · 18/11/2024 22:29

Not exactly a generous apology, but at least they have done what they were told.

Glamourreader · 18/11/2024 22:41

It's a copy and paste job so they don't have to think about any of it. No sign of them considering their actions at all.

ANameChangePresents · 18/11/2024 22:42

The direction to Beira's Place - I presume this was due to a court order. Where can I find the details on that please? I want to read that!

INeedAPensieve · 18/11/2024 22:59

Excellent and ERCC clearly did that through gritted teeth, I am sure of it. I wonder if they needed a quiet room to retreat to afterwards, with crayons and biscuits and warm milk to cope with having to put out that statement.

It is still appalling that this all happened in the first place. I am still angry at the odious MW and all they did during their tenure as CEO, such as speculating that rape victims orgasmed during their ordeal, calling service users who wanted biological females to counsel them bigots and saying they should reframe their trauma, taking part in group sessions with service users despite having NO counselling experience in order to "keep things fun" and also refusing to help service users who wanted single sex care, such as filing their email requests under "hate" and not signposting to beira's place. All of this was shitty, awful behaviour which actively retraumatised women who needed help. MW is a despicable person.

However a special part of my anger is directed at all the young (and not so young) women (actual women) who cheered this on, encouraged it, helped bully Roz, cheerfully filed requests for single sex care from service users under "hate", who enabled MW, such as all those women at the tribunal championing gender ideology (particularly the really down the rabbit hole one who now has another third sector job and is in the scouts), Sandy Brindley, her trans activist partner, all of them. I say to them all; you all have failed women. You have let your sex down. You all did it, and it was the opposite of fucking kind. That betrayal; I don't think my anger will ever cease about that.

MW I understand; men you see, men always see women as support humans, to be used, abused and for their validation and pleasure only. We are not equal human beings to these men. We never will be. I expect it of these men. They've been doing this to us for millennia. But those women doing it too? Going along with it all? Nope. I'll never ever understand any of you. Never.

Binglebong · 19/11/2024 00:55

Please make sure you click on the link. The more clicks, the higher the SEO, which means the more people will see it.

(At least it used to work like that- no promises!)

WhereYouLeftIt · 19/11/2024 15:22

Cut and paste indeed. Almost as if they couldn't bear to contaminate themselves with a proper thought-out apology. No, we'll just say whatever the jusdge told us we had to say, not a word more.

GailBlancheViola · 19/11/2024 15:28

They are not in the least bit sorry for what they did, they are sorry that they were called out, found out, deemed guilty, shamed and made to pay for it.

INeedAPensieve · 19/11/2024 15:34

Thanks @WhereYouLeftIt when you see it side by side it's very clear they've just cut and pasted it. No real reflection there at all. I'll say again, I hope never to need to use their services but I will not be using them if I ever do, I will go to either the Glasgow centre or Beira's place. They've proved without a shadow of a doubt that they do not care about the needs of all service users. Just their ideological overlords.

INeedAPensieve · 19/11/2024 15:35

It's a real shame that they haven't used this as an opportunity for reflection and consideration.

I mean, maybe they have. But it seems unlikely, given the cut-and-paste gritted-teeth nature of this announcement.

Thanks, this makes it so clear that they’ve done the absolute minimum required by the judgement. It is the epitome of being made to say sorry by your mum when you’re not sorry but want the hassle to go away.

Graceless. No evidence whatsoever of reflection and signals that it is business as usual at ERC.

Chariothorses · 19/11/2024 17:58

I am so in awe of Ros's courage, and for her speaking up for victims who need single sex rape support in Edinburgh.

But so frustrated, angry and upset that none of the press are reporting on the fact that the Edinburgh Rape centre abuse of vulnerable women is being repeated by councils across the country. Trans activist staff / commissioners of rape/ abuse support services 'for women' have made all service provision mixed sex based on gender beliefs (so many abused women can't access it) then call it 'inclusive'. So many vulnerable desperate women excluded from help! And MPs/ the government do nothing.
