Is this case (from Newport) really a woman?

I've searched and can't find anything on here. And maybe this offender is female it's just quite rare so I wanted to check if anyone knows for sure?

A woman who abducted and sexually assaulted a 14-year-old girl has been jailed for breaching a court order. Having admitted grooming, abduction and sexual activity with a child at a Cardiff Crown Court hearing in September 2022 Pearce was sentenced to a three-year community order and a sexual harm prevention order with the condition not to contact the girl.

Yes I’d say so

this article says

But the judge said Pearce would not be in prison long enough to benefit from a sex offender programme and there were no programmes for female offenders in the community.

seems like very poor reasoning to me though. I hope even when a man thinks he's a woman, and commits these types of crimes, he’d still have to do a sex offender programme with other men. Although given the current state of things… how long will that last until there’s some kind of uproar about it

A WOMAN walked free from court after admitting grooming, abducting and having sex with a teenage girl she was “infatuated” with.

Thanks, I just wasn't sure and I'm in Ireland where we have put transwomen into womens' prisons and all our reporting in the media says "woman/she/her" etc so I wondered.

There was another one recently where news stories said she/her and it was actually a man. Can’t remember what the case was now… your post did make me have another think!

SensibleSigma · 05/11/2024 14:13

It’s weird. I don’t believe women have been sexually abusing girls historically. All other kinds of abuse, yes. I know women can be abusive.

But there have been quite a lot recently- and I’m wondering whether it’s easier to get a prosecution and conviction against women. I don’t think it’s more disclosure, though it could be of course.

Are women abusing more due to mental health issues, porn issues, what? It’s very surprising.

Cloouudnine · 05/11/2024 14:21

It appears to be a woman with (per the judge) “significant cognitive impairment”.

Whatever that means.

Not sufficiently impaired to stop her pursuing this young girl online and then in person and luring her away from her home.

@SensibleSigma it’s simply too easy to gain access to young people, in this case via twitch and Snapchat. Parents should simply not let their kids have these apps, we need to get better at keeping our kids off the platforms and preventing these opportunities for bad people to engage with them.

BuffaloCauliflower · 05/11/2024 14:26

@SensibleSigma women have absolutely sexually abused children historically, most often their own children, sadly I’ve heard the stories of survivors. It’s absolutely nowhere near the level of men, but it does happen.

ArabellaScott · 05/11/2024 14:38

95-99% of sex abusers are male.

Which means a very tiny proportion are female.

ArabellaScott · 05/11/2024 14:39

It gets reported when it's a female because it's so rare.

SensibleSigma · 05/11/2024 16:08

I “understand“ women abusing their sons to keep them at home. That I can process. Appalling though it is. I can imagine for a lone woman in perilous times that will have seemed like a practical solution.

I can't remember which of the transwomen sex offenders it was, but his sentence was curtailed, purely on that basis.

There were no sex offending programs for women, and he was deemed a women, so he didn't have to do one.

really?! A UK one too? That is seriously worrying. Was it brushed under the carpet or was there any kind of uproar?

I'll have to go searching, but I don't think there was much of an uproar, no.

Except on here, obvs !

I agree… abuse your son to save yourself from whatever dangers? That’s beyond fucked up and no not even remotely understandable.

SensibleSigma · 05/11/2024 22:09

@BooFiend and @missmollygreen we’re talking about abuse. Obviously people who aren’t abusive aren’t going to behave like that. But before the welfare state a woman who had kids to feed might try and keep the ones who could earn close to home. Pimp her daughters out. Sleep with her son so he doesn’t set up home somewhere else. That kind of abuse has a rationale behind it, a self justification. Not unlike the men who sell their 11 yr old daughters to old men to be able to feed the rest of the family.

Why are you so shocked?

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 06/11/2024 11:52

That is the same mugshot as in the article that I originally linked. It's not clear from that photo if Pearce is male or female. But the reporting is clear that it's about a female.

I hope you don't have kids. What the hell is wrong with you?
