The Free Speech Union is backing William Hague for the Chancellorship of the University of Oxford. He has form cheering on the WI for welcoming in transwomen, but supports Lord Coe in his position on women's sports. Does anyone else know any more about his views on the trans debate? Or on women's issues more generally?

Not particularly positive, I'd say...

"Asked about the issue, Lord Hague said organisations such as the WI must accept that people changing gender is “part of our society now” and that new people should be welcomed"

What are people's thoughts on Elish Angiolini?

I have no idea who Elish is , but am guessing I would infinitely prefer her/ him.

On a superficial Google, I can confirm my preference.
She's from Glasgow/ legal background.
Her fabulous majesty will be along in a jiffy to give us the gc lowdown.

I thought Seb Coe just parroted the IOC with regards to sports. They all know TWAM but they only care about themselves.

I found the number of candidates who seemed to have tenuous knowledge of the University interesting, and one teaches Zumba

I thought he had spoken out against males in women’s sports. Could be wrong

While the argument for keeping men who claim they are women out of women’s sports is easy for anyone to understand, I guess the argument for keeping them out of groups where everyone is fully dressed and not in a vulnerable situation, such as the WI is less easy to understand, particularly for men.

When there are only women, the feeling in the room is different. When men arrive, some women change. Some women welcome him, some don’t care either way, others wish he wasn’t there. It splits the room. Some of the women start to compete with the others. And more often than not, the man has a habit of taking charge. He expects to be deferred to. If he’s been to Malaga airport, he’s also likely to have other objectionable habits and personality traits that are detrimental to women.

No man can understand that because it’s something he can never experience. It’s not that it can never, ever work with every man who claims he is a woman. There may be a few who can blend in better. But allow one in and you have to allow all.

Society may be changing, but there’s no reason women should have men imposed on them and especially not at the behest of other men. William Hague should stop telling women what we should do and get back in his man cupboard.
