Butch transwomen lesbians

I was under the misguided notion that transwomen go for the ultra girly stereotypes…Then I discovered the existence of butch transwomen lesbians who are ‘reclaiming their masculinity’, while taking oestrogen. One account said he realised he was actually a butch lesbian rather than just a lesbian due to the fact he enjoys listening to post-hardcore punk. I guess only men and butch lesbians like this kind of music, and if you’re a non-butch lesbian then you’re listening to what…Taylor Swift? I’m trying to envisage what such a man looks like, other than just your average straight dude with the added effects of oestrogen? And why are so many transwomen lesbians when the percentage of women who are lesbians is so much lower? Does no one (outside of this board) find this suspect?

Yet another data point that all this stuff is stereotyping bollocks.

Lesbians are lesbians because they are women, who are sexually attracted to women. That's it. Stereotypes about clothes they wear, music they listen to, tea they drink, cars they drive, etc are just that - stereotypes. And conforming to a stereotype doesn't make you a lesbian!

why are so many transwomen lesbians when the percentage of women who are lesbians is so much lower?

Because 100% of transwomen are male, and the percentage of males who are attracted to women in the UK was 93.4% at the last census. So the sexuality of a male person, regardless of whether they say they're a woman or not, is overwhelmingly more likely to be attracted to women than men.

See also "spicy straight" couples of a transwoman and a transman. You're just a boring hetero couple like everyone else, with added sexist stereotypes.

Beyond me why anyone cares about anyone else's sex life, provided they keep everything consensual and between themselves.

I wouldn’t care at all except that they don’t keep it between themselves which is the problem I have with the trans movement and all of the associated regressive gendered stereotyping.

I’ve asked for this to be moved to Feminism Sex & Gender as I posted in the wrong section, not sure if it will be.

Do you think lesbians being socially pressured to accept 'butch transwomen lesbians' into their dating pool is consensual and cool? I don't.

Neither do I. I said keep it between themselves. That doesn't encompass social pressure on others.

It's what happens when you dehumanise people and reduce them to a cluster of stereotypes.

I read an article once about a Transwoman who detransitioned because he was fed up of talking about hair and makeup.

Jenni Murray wrote of when she met the Rev Peter Stone the first serving priest to have a sex change operation. He kept talking about clothes and how important it was to find the right outfit and makeup. When Murray asked serious questions such as how he felt about the women who struggled to become leaders in the church, he went back to talking about clothes.

She also spoke of talking to Holly Willoughby who didn't acknowledge his privilege growing up as a man or recognise that he was conforming to stereotypes of what a man thought a woman should be.

That's very funny! India Willoughby.

I’m trying to envisage what such a man looks like, other than just your average straight dude with the added effects of oestrogen?

This footage is from the Butch Trans Women Panel at the Butch Voices Conference in 2011. It gives a good idea as to what butch transbian role play looks like.

It's bizarre and pretty offensive.

Thank you, incredibly offensive, with a huge emphasis on labels, many of which seemed to be contradictory.

I couldn't make head nor tail of it; it was word salad.

Well that’s an oxymoron and a half.

I mean... what? WHAT?

I am starting to think we are all now just trapped in a massive experiment designed to find out exactly how much utter shit humans will swallow.

The whole thing was already completely fucking ludicrous and then they add this.

You dont know whether to laugh or cry, you really don't.

I've seriously thought that since I first become aware of what we were being expected to believe.
