Excellent news.

How many of these cases are there to be before it gets through to people/organisations that they cannot discriminate against GC views?

Excellent. Wonder how much media coverage this will get? 🤔

‘But this is just a start. There is still a culture in the Party that makes it very difficult to speak about things like the right of women and girls who have survived rape and sexual assault to single-sex support services. I don't feel safe to use my name today, because I've been subject to harassment and bullying in the past after speaking on these issues, and the Party hasn't protected me.

It was dispiriting to see this contribution although it feels like an accurate depiction of wider issues.

OP, in answer to your enquiry, my feeling is n+1 until such time as the law is changed in their favour and they'll continue to spend public and other money on defences until they win by attrition.

Excellent.

Nation Cymru have an article about it, the comments are very encouraging, it shows there are people in Wales who are watching these buffoons.

I find this comment very telling, although I can't judge how accurate it is.

"This is indeed the most grudging of apologies. The madness of transgender activism was passed as a policy during a virtual conference during Covid by a cohort of 20 members who are trans rights activists and most Plaid members are unaware of it. I asked canvassers during the run up to the general election about this and Prosiect Pawb and there was a level of ignorance about Plaid policies and repots by their supporters that amazed me. WAKE UP Plaid members and find out what your party really thinks about women"

Plaid Cymru admits unlawful discrimination against feminist charity

Martin Shipton Plaid Cymru has admitted unlawfully discriminating against a grassroots feminist charity by barring it from the party’s Spring Conference. In February 2024, FiLiA signed a contract with Plaid to have a stand at the conference in Caernarf...

Plaid Cymru:

"In other words, if we had received a booking from a different group with an alternative view on the same issue, we would not have treated that group any differently from FiLiA."

Suuuure. So if a trans org booked a stall, they'd be rejected, would they.

My experience too.
Where I live, people in Plaid don't even talk about this stuff. I'm on a whatsapp group where this is like news from the Antarctic or something. I'll think about how I could share it so more people get to know about this.

When this first happened, when they got kicked out of the Plaid conference, I messaged my local candidate (who I know) and he completely ignored me, didn't even answer.
I've had reason to contact him about a planning issue recently and he's been fairly decent in his replies etc.
So I don't quite know whether he didn't know what to say, didn't know the issues, or what...

Good to hear this newyddion da anyway, diolch @GargoylesofBeelzebub

Given that their previous leader was forced to step down after a report into the widespread culture of misogyny in the Party you’d have thought that they might have considered the optics more carefully at least. Morally bankrupt and deeply incompetent.

Olderbadger1 · 21/09/2024 00:37

PS but bloody well done FiLiA for not letting them get away with this. Appalling that it has cost you so much time and several 1000 ponds to do so however.

I am sure Plaid is going to ban Muslims, Catholics or other religions which disbelieve in gender stuff from their conference and support. Oh wait weirdly their positions are fine. Wonder why? :

With the failure of the all male gender quota for the Senedd Plaid was backing they are in an interesting position.

I am waiting for a rebel alliance inside Plaid to rise up against gender nonsense as it has in other parties. It is only a matter of time. If the SNP, Greens and Lib Dems can do it surely Plaid can. I think it may be more of an issue in the Senedd elections in 2026

There is a very active Welsh Labour Women's Declaration.

Wow, had not read the plaid full statement. That is no apology. Shameful.

As a political party, the members of Plaid Cymru do not all have the same views as you on this issue. We therefore have to be respectful of these different perspectives...

Hmm. There seems to be a failure of logic there. They certainly didn't respect the views of FiLiA.
