New Norfolk PCC misunderstands Equality Act, conducts consultation that corrupts data

A member of our local GC group managed to talk to the new Norfolk PCC Sarah Taylor, who is launching a consultation about policing priorities yesterday. (Amazing, as she didn’t respond to any of our emails before the election!)

I quote from her account of it:

”A certain amount of blather about Kemi Badenoch & the Tories, & an attempt at telling me how vulnerable Trans-identified men are.”

“She said she had demanded data from the police about strip searches. [Norfolk Constabulary is one of the police forces that didn’t update their guidance to bring it in line with the law, ie PACE & EA2010] because she’s about “outcomes”. “

“She then showed she doesn’t understand the Equality Act, as she claimed the PC of Gender Reassignment only kicks in after surgery!”

“Note the consultation collects data on “gender” (which is not defined in law & regarding which the police have no statutory duties under the Equality Act or the Police & Criminal Evidence Act) instead of sex, which they DO have a legal requirement to observe.”

“She said she hadn’t replied to the emails raising concerns before her election because “there were only a few”.”

“A very disheartening meeting”.

Consultation is here if you’re in Norfolk!

How can she monitor outcomes if the data is subjective?

To be fair, if the ONbloodyS can't get it right I'm not sure I'd expect better from anyone else. Depressing, isn't it, though?

The PCC in Avon and Somerset is as useless. There have been 3 in recent years and all are as bad as each other. Examples= involved senior police officers in ENDING female only domestic abuse support, funded a discriminatory 'victims survey' for their PSED that required victims to believe they have a 'gender identity' or they couldn't respond (ie to exclude female victims who know sex is real and immutable), and don't fund any female only rape/ abuse support so women are excluded (like in ERCC). Then when challenged won't intervene and blames local councils instead!

It's the same across much of the country I think. What a waste of public money PCC's are. Even though tackling VAWG is supposed to be a police priority!
Hypocrites one and all.

Do an FOI request. Find out how many emails there REALLY were. Then go to the press.
