I am sick and tired of this whack a mole treadmill.Allison Bailey has tweeted:
The regulator is consulting on a new positive duty to act “in a way that advances equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI)”.It would replace existing core duty 8, under which barristers “must not discriminate unlawfully against any person”.

This is good to see from @legalfutures on the 'Bar Standards Board's proposed rewrite of its equality rules'.

I'm a black woman, the daughter of Jamaican immigrants, from a working-class background, a lesbian and a barrister.

You might think I would welcome these proposals to require barristers to promote 'equality, diversity and inclusion', but I don't; these proposals frighten me.

Gender-critical barristers’ alarm at BSB equality rule reform

Two barristers with high-profile gender-critical views have expressed alarm at the Bar Standards Board’s proposed rewrite of its equality rules.

I have seen many concerned about this proposal. It really is whack a mole, isn't it?

Spot on @Imnobody4 and I'd be prepared to bet 10p that the people it advantages aren't black or women or disabled, they are the SPECIAL people who are so much more disadvantaged than anyone else [Editorial note: sarcasm alert]

It seems as the excesses and democratic / moral vacuum at the heart of trans ideology becomes more apparent, along with the cynical use of children, trans extremists wedged into these organisations will ramp up their efforts to implement bullying and intimidation under the guise of "inclusion".

I'm cautiously optimistic that the excesses are so great, and the emotional abuse of children so transparent that the Press - now stepping away from the demands to obey from all the transactivist media groups - will continue to highlight and challenge these abuses? If I recall, the Press publicised the appalling Bench Book transactivism and that's now been revised with the activists who wrote the offending pages having disappeared?

Or am I being naive and too optimistic?

Well if they can give us a fixed definition of what EDI means, that would help. I mean, a few years ago that would cover promoting women, now it means promoting a small subset of men too, and excluding those men to promote the women is not regarded as promoting inclusion.
And who knows where we will be tomorrow?

It may be relevant that the chair of the BSB has a trans child. Which is probably a fat clue as to the nature of the ‘inclusion’.
