I've just received information about the RSE curriculum for my secondary age child. I'm happy with most of the module content, except within the LGBTQ+ section, specifically gender identity. I can see that the CEA (NI curriculum board) use GIRES as their 'evidence base' alongside a few others. The content is very one sided with no evidence of discussion around other people's beliefs and the protections around that. Just checked the GIRES website and I find it shocking. Some examples that they use:

'*80 different self- descriptions' (of gender identity)

Consistent use of 'assigned at birth'

Detransition is extremely unusual.

Using pronouns related to biological sex is unacceptable
*
For most gender diverse people , transition is likely to be supported by some medical and related services.

I will be pulling my dc from this module, however does anybody have a letter template to use to highlight concerns in a more succinct way that I will be able to give to the school, I'm also really concerned that these modules will be delivered in tutor groups by teachers who will most likely follow the content (as they're not experts in this field).
