And a wee bit about Layla Moran which is a tad concerning

It's absolute fucking chaos isn't it? No protection for women and girls to be had anywhere in the world any more.

Theeyeballsinthesky · 02/09/2024 18:39

God we don’t want bloody Moran as chair of Health & social care select committee. Leaving aside her mad ideas on gender, the massive challenges facing health & social care mean this is a crucial committee and needs someone who gets the issues and can hold Streeting to account not someone who believes they can see into someone’s soul

Thingybob · 02/09/2024 18:45

Is Layla still pansexual or has she realised how daft it all sounded?

duc748 · 02/09/2024 18:56

The rise has also been driven by millennials and Gen Z

Like many, I suspect, I haven't got a fucking clue what this means. If you mean, people in the age-range x to y, why not say so?

WickedSerious · 02/09/2024 19:09

They might as well apply to grow horns and a tail.

(anyone having a problem with the archive link, change where it says .ph to .is)

Yes looking at the very colourful (but not rainbow) chart the biggest group seems to be those born between 1990-1999. Growing as group in each suceeding year from 2017 onwards. Other age groups decrease over the years.

But also interesting to note that going back to when GRC first became available after the first and second year search it settle down to being about the same number until 2020, when the number just kept increasing.

Crouton19 · 02/09/2024 21:04

Wasn't the chair of the equalities select committee (Noakes I think) proved to be useless when facing Kemi Badenoch on this issue? I would hope Streeting can more than take of himself opposite Moran.

duc748 · 02/09/2024 22:35

Oh yeah, Nokes was no match for Badenoch. Agree on Streeting too, although I never feel happy about him.

IwantToRetire · 02/09/2024 23:16

Sorry for my (usual typos) in case anyone thinks that doesn't make sense it should have been:

illinivich · 03/09/2024 08:27

It's difficult to tell exactly because the numbers are given by decade, not age at issue, but it looks like in 2008/9, 10% were young - in their twenties, in 2011/12, 17% and by 2023/24 its about 65%.

The jump in the number issues in 2020 was probably helped by the reduced fee and the publicity surrounding it.

IwantToRetire · 03/09/2024 17:28

numbers are given by decade, not age

It is age group by decade as the colours indicate the decade born in.

And the dark yellow for 1990 - 1990 continues to increase, even though other age groups tail over subsequent decades.
