The magic of JK Rowling's hair

She's got bloody good hair.
Someone had to say it.

I've just said it.
All the times I've seen articles about her screaming "She's a horrid TERF" when really you know that it's hair envy.

It was important to just say it and I have.

Also I like the dress she wore to the premier of HP and the Deathly Hallows.

And the blue earrings and dress for the Fantastic Beasts.

So when TRAs are having fits over her and frothing at the gnash, around 23% of that frothing is pure hair envy.

AIBU - I liked it red

YABU - I prefer it blonde

YABBU - I enjoy it in a bun with the tendrils and earring combo

YAABRU - Wild and free in the wind, when she's riding on a chariot across the sky pulled by Thestrals

I've never seen it blonde - I love the deep red she has in recent(?) photos. It is splendid hair.

Definitely vote for the Thestral-drawn chariot image. Or astride a warrior she-polar bear, as per the Greenland thread.

UtopiaPlanitia · 28/08/2024 00:27

I LOVE red hair (straight, wavy or curly I like it all) so I prefer her hair red. I think it really suits her skin tone.

It gives her a little Boudicca vibe 😊

WandsOut · 28/08/2024 00:34

It was the Greenland post that inspired this hair post.

Also to remember that we are allowed to have fun even in the midst of this horror story playing out, we are allowed to enjoy things.

And I enjoy her hair. She is a woman who knows what suits her.

I'm loving the Greenland thread!

Also a little detour into refreshing my memory about Thestrals. I'd love to know if having witnessed and processed death allowing one to see them only applies to human death - I presume it does. I've seen plenty, but only feline and canine.

You're not wrong! It's not just the hair, though. It drives them apoplectic that this is a woman who is rich, successful, good-looking – and an advocate for women's rights. And that however much they squeal and shout abuse and organise boycotts and burn her books and all the rest, none of it has any effect at all. She sails on, still being rich, successful, good-looking and advocating for women's rights. The incels' worst nightmare.

She's a goddess. I am inspired to keep fighting back because of her, although unfortunately I can't speak up at work as I need my job and it's totally captured. Problem with public sector in Scotland. Quiet dissent happens though, quiet words with certain colleagues has helped, we all know to keep our heads down but it's hard. I try to be as brave as I can with what I can do.

When it comes to protecting my vulnerable asn DC though I will be fighting; I'll need help when the time comes but I'm sure all the guidance on all these threads will help me. So many brave women (and men) keep me going.

Floisme · 28/08/2024 13:31

I'd love to go shopping with her.

JellySaurus · 28/08/2024 13:49

I love the fact that JKR is NOT conventionally beautiful. She has a certain gawkiness. She is lovely as she is. She's real. The brats are frothing with jealousy over a real woman with real beauty, not beauty manufactured to conform to a stereotype.

quantumbutterfly · 28/08/2024 13:59

I wonder which of her red haired characters she enjoyed writing most, Molly Weasley, Ginny Weasley, Lily Potter.

Julie Walters kills it as Molly Weasley.

duc748 · 28/08/2024 17:02

She is a remarkably photogenic woman, there's no doubting that.

WaterThyme · 28/08/2024 18:06

I took my niece to see her at the Edinburgh Book Festival in the late 1990s if I remember correctly. She was brilliant. Immediately relating to the children and responding to their questions straightforwardly at their level. Wholly engaged and engaging with absolutely no talking down. Focussing on the children.

One question was about Dobby the house elf and whether she’d taken the name from the popular chain of garden centres of a similar name. She was simply happy to just say she’d never thought of that but what a good idea it was.

What a lovely woman.

Seriestwo · 28/08/2024 21:42

Agree, she looks great and as if she’s comfortable in her own skin.

must be annoying for some who are neither.

LizzieSiddal · 28/08/2024 21:44

She’s a very attractive woman and yes I’m very jealous of her hair.

SensibleSigma · 28/08/2024 21:47

She’s a woman who has managed to do phenomenally well on every level, despite disadvantages rendered by her sex, and she’s done it all with Great Hair as well!

TinselAngel · 28/08/2024 21:54

My hair is OK but if I had her money I'd have the best hair in the world.

RhannionKPSS · 28/08/2024 22:54

Having seen her in the flesh not that long ago I agree that she has great hair and fantastic skin. I’d love to know what foundation she uses

Exactly, she's managed to do ridiculous amounts of good with ridiculously good hair.

Having seen her in RL at FiLiA last year, she's so very petite!
And yes fab hair, skin whatever

You are our Queen Jo!

NewMe2024 · 29/08/2024 02:26

Yes, absolutely. I don’t think her power actually resides in her gorgeous hair (though you can never be sure) but it’s certainly the crowning glory to her otherwise long list of accomplishments.

NewMe2024 · 29/08/2024 02:27

Oh and red = best. Love her red hair.

BroccoliHighkicks · 29/08/2024 02:36

Love her with red hair, it really suits her. She needs to sort out a flaming chariot, as the goddess she is deserves that.

Yeah this.

She's bloody marvellous and quite aside from the whole Shero thing (and Beira's place) she's given my Dcs and I hundreds of hours of joy with the HP books and films.

Plus I really REALLY love my Harry Potter lego keyring. Makes me happy.

She is a gorgeous woman and an ethical and courageous billionaire which is absolutely remarkable. ❤️ JKR

Maaate · 29/08/2024 22:04

Patricia Cornwell appears to be a fan too 🤩

Of course her replies have the usual TRAntrums but it's good to see JKR getting some support
