'A former Police Scotland officer who subjected three former partners to violent attacks, sexual abuse and controlling behaviour has been jailed.
Christopher Ferguson, 31, targeted his victims over a 14-year period in the Lanarkshire area, including while at Glasgow's Helen Street police station.
...

'Les Brown, procurator fiscal for South Strathclyde, said Ferguson is a "habitual domestic abuser" who inflicted "unimaginable trauma" on his victims.
“It took courage for them to speak out against a figure of some authority and I would commend their determination to seek justice," he said.'

If the government is serious about tackling male violence, we are going to need to talk about the police.

At least he's been locked up - albeit for a derisory sentence. I've read a number of threads on here from women in abusive relationships with police officers and their despair that they're never believed as his mates close ranks and protect him.

StickItInTheFamilyAlbum · 21/08/2024 20:41

It's wretched and there is no sign of a useful cultural shift to root this out and create a new structure.

FrippEnos · 21/08/2024 20:44

I don't know how true it is, but a long time ago I read somewhere that police officers where one of the most likely people to commit DV.

DuesToTheDirt · 21/08/2024 21:21

Another day, another story of a misogynist police officer.

lady69 · 21/08/2024 21:31

31… 15 year period. Depressing.

SouthgatesWaistcoat · 21/08/2024 21:35

Only a 3 years and 9m sentence for 15 years spent abusing women 🤦🏻‍♀️ that's appalling.

It is. I'm looking at people jailed for making a 'joke' tweet and looking at this case ...

Yes, I have read this too.

Yet another violent abusive criminal working as a police officer. Barely a week goes by without another one of these bastards coming to the public’s attention.

Agree that the sentence is insultingly short.

Tallisker · 22/08/2024 08:51

He started young

PrueintheLoo · 22/08/2024 09:00

He has spent his whole life as an adult abusing women.

ArabellaScott · 22/08/2024 11:06

Yes, I imagine there's a very low chance of him ever changing.

He started at 17 and that's on the official figures.

At least he will no longer be a Police officer on his release.
