Did anyone else prick up their ears at the intro to this news piece on the horrific infected blood scandal and experimentation done on kids with haemophilia some of whom died?

It was all about the horror of having your life ruined by a health service failure and possibly not being able to have children and having your life and relationships dominated by it etc - it was so obviously comparable to puberty blockers and transitioning kids that I wondered if it was actually deliberately written that way by someone at the BBC flying under the radar.

Even if not the comparison is obvious, and I thought this is exactly what the news will be saying about thousands of people who will need compensation in the future for being experimented on with harmful treatments that ruined their lives.

Why doesn’t the NHS (as a body) learn?

Gender reassignment is the next major medical scandal and will cost the NHS billions over the next few decades.

Yes and I wouldn't be surprised if future costs of payouts were a factor in triggering the Cass review.

Indeed it will. Sadly the dangerous and toxic adults pushing all this behind the scenes won't face the consequences of their actions. It's all the vulnerable children and young people who believed this stuff who will live with their wrecked bodies daily. Plus of course the NHS who currently appear to be populated with too many adults promoting the sterilisation of mentally unwell children and adults. I do hope they end up in court.

I don’t follow closely but I understand that there are legal cases against some “medical practioners” who have “transitioned” children already under way in the US.

Yep.

'Everyone has known' about every medical scandal as it happens.

It's just about who decides to support the scandal or actively knowingly hide the scandal versus the battle to hold those with that power to account and exposed their abuses of power.

Every single scandal.

I have to agree that the parallels are there.

Having read that a FTM transitioner has died recently at 24 and also the FTM transitioner who suffered a stroke causing locked in syndrome (there was a post on this forum about that case) I am feeling that things are unfortunately going to get worse.

My heart breaks for the people who have been so let down in the most horrific way, it is a medical scandal.

In mythology, Cassandra could forsee the future, but was doomed to not be believed. In this case, I'm sure a lot of us feel like the 'Cassandras' were not only not believed, but considered to be evil and fascist.

I read an interesting book, can’t remember the author, comparing the medical community and the aviation community.

They noted how every single aviation accident or near miss was dissected to the nth degree resulting in a safer industry. Whereas, the default mode of the medical community is to generally deny, obfuscate, and circle the wagons (fear of litigation), meaning the opportunity to learn is lost.

Here’s the locked in syndrome case, just for anyone who hasn’t seen it before: https://www.neurology.org/doi/10.1212/WNL.0000000000202704

Yes, it's one of the most living nightmare situations that I can try to imagine.

This is the other heartbreaking case I mentioned. I know that posters on the fruit farms had been worried about GS for a while. I can't link there, so here is a Xitter/Nitter thread by Exulansic.

This is awful. By transgender male, I guess they mean female??

RainWithSunnySpells · 18/08/2024 17:37

Yes, female.

Isn't it awful? And despairing as this is avoidable harm. Medics experimenting on the physically healthy young to "cure" their mental illnesses.

RainWithSunnySpells · 18/08/2024 17:52

Absolutely.

You take a physically healthy child or young person and then they have complications such as sepsis, blood clots, trouble urinating, kidney failure, a brain bleed and death.

I have a vague memory that one of the young people on the original 'Dutch Protocol' study died from complications after a vaginoplasty (colon version due to micro penis caused by being on puberty blockers). I don't know if anyone has the information about that case? IIRC the poor patient had a lot of skin removed in a desperate attempt to save their life.

Please correct me if I have remembered incorrectly.
