50 women killed by men this year

Absolutely horrendous.

It is hideous.

My maths is rubbish, can someone check this? 225 days into 2024, 50 women killed so far by men; that's one every 4 and a bit days, isn't it. I feel so sick and numb.

And no doubt these poor women had suffered in other ways, maybe for many years, before they were killed. Their families and friends must be devastated.

Dreadful. An ongoing tragedy.

Waiting for "men get killed too-more of them in fact" and "not all men are abusers"....

It always used to be quoted by DV project that 2 women a week were killed by violent male partners. (sorry maths seems sort of offensive to the reality) So that would be 1 woman every 3.3 days

But recently if you look at statements or reports from Women's Aid, they are now saying at least 1 woman a week is killed. So would fit in with the maths you did.

Its all so horrible to talk in this way, but although it is only tiny, it means there has been the very tiniest improvement in terms of women being killed by men.

I am not sure, as this is relatively new as a concept but now agreed, that women who have committed suicide and are known to be victims of DV are to be included in annual figures.

I would join a march for this as there seems to be a violent attack on a women or girl every week on the news

As does Dead Women Walking.

And locally (which you could do) women use the 16 Days of Action Against Violence Against Women to hold a vigil, or something.

I thought this awful case was a mum killed by her son who identified as a tw but has now detransitioned. Now, I'm not sure. I think it might be a daughter who identifies as a tm. Anyway, they use male pronouns in the attached article and tmam, by the Guardian's lights, so Anna should be on the list. If a man had murdered a tw this year I think the case would be on there.

They're all absolutely horrific and it's only August.

I can't see Carol, Hannah and Louise Hunt on there. Seems strange because even though he hasn't been charged (due to his still being in hospital), he has been arrested and police aren't looking for anyone else.
