Police Scotland still at it

So apparently 1 in 10 Scots have been recorded on a police database that was set up to stop serious organised crime (Scottish intelligence database or SID) without having committed any crimes and the police is adding people at the rate of 24 per day.
Now call me cynical and/or paranoid but this is getting to stassi levels of behaviour by police Scotland

1 in 10 Scots listed on secret police database despite many committing no crime

Figures show over 500,000 adults and children are recorded on the Scottish Intelligence Database, which was launched 21 years ago.

That's horrifying. I wonder what the proportion of MPs and Councillors are as well since they are more vocal on sm. There's always going to be somebody who disagrees with their policies and are nutty enough to complain to the police about it.

That is scary indeed. There's some nice pithy quote that I can't recall right now about governments that don't trust their own citizens and this, I think, is what that might look like.

Are Subject Access Requests (SAR) a thing in Scotland? If they are, I'd suggest a mass coordinated request might piss off those in the right quarters.

I'm wondering now if England has the same.

Surely it becomes useless at those time of numbers. We’ll all end up on the list for something. Or maybe that’s the point.

When 'hate incidents' are so vague as to evade definition and don't require any evidence to be recorded, then anyone and everyone is liable to be targeted by this.

Mostly it'll moulder, but should the police ever want a reason to detain someone, they'll be able to find one.

This is dystopian. I hope the ICO intervenes.
