Women's single sex spaces, yes, but don't forget....

women-only jobs, awards and the many other things we are losing

Having transwomen as the face of organisations for IWD.
Appointing transwomen as part of women's quotas on boards (anyone remember that Labour guy who said he was a woman on Wednesdays, just to prove a point, and got appointed on a women's committee - I forget the details)
Giving awards for women's writing, music etc to transwomen.
Loss of free speech, including sackings for GC views (getting challenged in the courts, but still happening)

It's not just about safeguarding; all aspects of sex-based categorisations are affected by this issue.

Plus we have loss of the single-sex spaces which are not a safeguarding issue, e.g. the WI, cycling groups, someone on a thread today re a women's walking group.

It's not just about toilets and changing rooms and sports. It's about our whole society.

100% agree. The human race is split into men & women (immutable).
Everyone deserves to be treated with respect, but that doesn't mean they get to access spaces that aren't for them.
I would be equally defensive of men & boys' spaces remaining for them, although accept the safeguarding aspect is different (though still present).

MrsOvertonsWindow · 30/06/2024 12:13

Absolutely.
It goes as far as the destruction of facts and reality. Along with the complete erosion of the soclal contract - the social conventions that enable all the different groups to co exist in society

As for what's being done to children and young people being gaslit to believe their healthy bodies are wrong but can be fixed with drugs and surgery.
It's unforgivable.

Runningupthecurtains · 30/06/2024 12:27

Don't forget the removal of sexed categories for some awards, so rather then best male performance, best female performance we just have best performance.
And when zero woman are nominated in that category we are given waffle about not being any suitable candidates despite managing to find multiple suitable nominees for year after year when there was a female category (see the Brits a few years ago).

DialSquare · 30/06/2024 12:31

Also things like crime statistics being recorded as female crimes when committed by males.

BernardBlacksMolluscs · 30/06/2024 12:35

A man rocked up to my WI this month. He’s had a great deal of cosmetic surgery and taken a lot of cross sex hormones so apart from being twice the size of the women he doesn’t look much like a man

but he still is one and I don’t want him there in my women’s group

ArabellaScott · 30/06/2024 13:45

Yes. We had better get used to being relegated to being second class citizens.

FlirtsWithRhinos · 30/06/2024 13:54

The language itself. Not being able to speak about things that happen to women and women's experiences of patriachy and men and it be clear and understood we are talking about the sex class. That the history of women and the fight for women's emancipation was about the sex class not the men who feel like whatever it is they think women feel like.

In all the insanity of men in women's prisons and men speaking as women for IWD, the thing I still come back to that struck fear into me was Monroe Bergdorf's tantrum about women wearing pussy hats to protest Trump's "grab 'em by the pussy" comment. That they fear so much any recognition that female people exist and have needs that they do not share that they will literally silence us attenpting to draw attention to any injustice that we suffer because of our sex.

We are already. It is just going to get worse.

GailBlancheViola · 30/06/2024 14:15

All of that @DuesToTheDirt but the debate is dragged to toilets by the TRAs and their craven supporters to make it seem petty and inconsequential, it is done on here all the time whatever the topic of the thread, it is done to undermine and to avoid talking about those items you have detailed.

Distract, distract, paint women as nasty old meanies that want to stop poor vulnerable people having a wee, don't whatever you do let the full details of this insidious ideology emerge. Don't whatever you do let the end game of the complete subjugation and relegation of women and girls emerge. Don't whatever you do let the public see or hear about that.

Imnobody4 · 30/06/2024 14:17

It's all so depressing. When my mother was born women didn't have the vote. We've made great progress but the job is nowhere near finished.

This is worst backlash I've seen and it's being supported wholeheartedly by women, some of who I used to respect.
Oh well another day , another battle. Is there a post election strategy being worked on? - and please no infighting.

IamMoodyBlue · 30/06/2024 14:27

Agree absolutely with the previous posts. I am totally unconcerned by the life choices other people make. Sexuality is your own business.
But you are female, or male. Every cell in your body (except the sex cells of course), are either XX or XY.
Hormones, surgery, implants, and the absolute certainty that you have a body of the wrong gender, does not change this.
I'm a woman. XX.
When I was I vhold, I passionately wanted to be a boy. I asked for a train set gor Christmas. I got a doll. My brother got a train set. Do I left my doll out face down in a puddle to drown it so I might get a train. All I got was a smack.
I desperately wanted to have a pair of trousers to wear so I could climb trees better. I got frilly frocks.
Now, I could've chosen to identify as a boy and any teacher forgetting to remember I was now male, would be guilty of misgendering and I could report them and they'd likely be suspended.
To me, that's just plain crazy.

Thanks for this list OP. Worth sending to my Labour candidate/last MP who I have crossed swords with on other matters. I've already decided I can't vote for her whatever she answers which will no doubt be the party line 😡

We are already. It is just going to get worse.

Agreed.

It's won't be possible to talk about it without being advised that we need to listen and be re-educated out of our concerns.

We're about to have a govt. with members who will not recant calling WPUK and similar organisations 'hate groups' and (essentially) adjacent to terrorism.

I confidently expect some bright young things at our banks to start disclosing all of us who make regular donations to some women's organisations and crowdfunders. I'm bracing myself for losing my bank account and what this would mean for the joint account for household expenses. And how I'd handle it at work.

CorruptedCauldron · 30/06/2024 16:46

Yeah it’s not just loss of safety, dignity and privacy and the ability to win sports trophies and acting awards etc. It is also about women not being able to advocate for themselves as a female sex class. Women not being able to form a social group where they don’t want a man present because one single man will change the group dynamic. It’s about women being unable to speak freely about things that only affect women; things that men don’t understand. Sometimes, for whatever reason, we just want to have something to ourselves without a man muscling in. By all means, let transwomen live their best lives, just not at the expense of women, who have had to fight hard for the rights we have today.
