The Rest is Politics on JKR

In Tuesday's edition, starting at 12:45, Alastair Campbell and Rory Stewart discuss the JKR Times article.

Campbell is as boorish as usual, repeating how the trans community are the most marginalised and discriminated against community on the planet.

Stewart is (as usual) much more measured and while saying he has a close doctor friend who is trans and who helps people transition, he also really understands where some of his female friends are coming from.

They both say the issue is not impacting polling in any measurable way and I think that's true.

I'm no Tory but I've long thought that Rory Stewart is one of the best Prime Ministers we never had.

He ends up by recommending people listen to The Witch Trials of JK Rowling.

To a certain extent I can understand Campbell saying he can't comment on JKR's article because he hasn't read it but to then go on to say he hasn't read it because he knows what she thinks is ignorant and arrogant. He also does what virtually every other politician in ithe country does and answer any question about women with an answer about how badly done to trans people are. I find it infuriating.

And by 'trans people', they actually mean men. Always.

How arrogant is Campbell to go on a show to talk about JKR and not to bother reading her most recent article?!

TBF he co presents the podcast, he isn’t “going on it”.

Agreed, he goes on about how many books etc he reads, but can’t read an article?

Was thoroughly unimpressed by the “this doesn’t really affect us so we shouldn’t take a position on it line”. Politicians take a position on all sorts of things which don’t affect them personally.

Another thread already on this!

@moggle ok, so even more arrogant to plan in this episode and not bother to read the most pertinent recent article by JKR.
