Is it normal for children to read articles in school about programmes that are rated age 15 when they are 11?

I know that drag is now mainstream and I am in a feminist bubble but really? Of all the programmes to focus on they choose a show full of misogyny, swearing and sexual references?

I have already raised concerns with the school about the LGBT+ club activities, didn't get very far.

Surely the top surgery episode pushes it over the line of acceptable?

They shouldn't be encouraging children to engage - in any form- with shows that are inappropriately age-rated for those children. Exposing children to age-inappropriate material is considered emotional abuse in KCSIE.

I would be asking that they stop exposing 11 year olds to age 15 rated shows as an urgent safeguarding matter.

Dressing up as another group of people to mock them pushes it over the line of acceptable.

Irrespective of anyone’s views on the particular programme the school should not be encouraging children to engage with age inappropriate shows. As others have said that’s a safeguarding concern. I’d focus on that in dealing with the school.
