I went looking for Susan B Anthony’s famous quotation earlier. There’s something missing from the circled quotation and some interesting foliage in the image. I am sure the full quotation which ends “her sex” is visible in other images.

After the scrubbing of Ruth Bader Ginsberg’s quotations rendering them meaningless and Amazon editing its Roald Dahl ebooks, is this the future we have to look forward to? Do I need to start archiving hard copies and buying physical books so I can prove what was actually said in future?

I don't think there's anything sinister going on here. I found two different photos of the women with the banner on two different sites.

On one, you can see the whole banner, with the same flowers as in the other photo at the bottom right.

On the other the photo is taken from a slightly different angle, so the word 'sex' is partially obscured, but the quote is correctly transcribed below the photo.

Oh FGS. This is all part of the mad effort to divorce womanhood from the reality of our sexed bodies.

Female foetuses are aborted; baby girls left to die; wee girls subjected to FGM; & women & girls experience menstrual stigma of varying degrees (& the knock-on effects like curtailment of educations), damage to careers from having children [or employers assuming we might be going to], & healthcare tailored to the male body. We spend our entire lives in a world designed for the male sex; that is frequently actively harmful to us; & the pretence that this is all about some mysterious Genderfeelz is grossly insulting. Gender stereotypes are applied to our sexed bodies - in the Global North we can mostly choose to fight against, them naturally - not by using some kind of gender divining rod. It’s not a mysterious coincidence that the patriarchy tramples on female people; & we cannot simply identify out of our oppression.

The breathtaking arrogance of those who presume to “identify” as female & indeed as oppressed^ still staggers me, even years into this. Continuing to try to force apart womanhood from the physical reality of being female is typical male violence.

^It’s noticeable how many have dropped identifying as Jewish since October the 7th.

I think this might well be to do with ensuring the content passed the censors for whichever platform it was intended. Some platforms or websites won't print the word "sex". Nothing to do with the connotations of gender.

It's not the photo, it's the text below the photo that transcribes the quotation - correctly in the one you link, with a missing word in the OP's one.

The OP also mentioned the word being partially obscured in the image.

The OP didn't include a link so I don't know where she found that image.

It's possible that whoever transcribed it on the site the OP found simply made an error, because they transcribed what they could see in the photo. Without more information it's impossible to know whether it was done deliberately.
