Guardian sportswriter has quite a good article here about the balance of parenthood and why women end up making the compromises
https://www.theguardian.com/football/article/2024/may/07/womens-super-league-emma-hayes-carla-ward

Wonder whether he still thinks it's fine that women should make all the compromises and let people with an unfair advantage distort the sport

As he says in his new one, "As ever, you suspect, it will be a message lost on those who most need to hear it"

Two female WSL managers are leaving for reasons of work-life balance. When it comes to sacrifice, it’s not the same for men

"When it comes to sacrifice, it’s not the same for men"

Jonathan has let himself down here.

Transmen can have babies too.

Transwomen can father kids and Jonathan is on record for saying he wants them to win all the prizes

Jonathan just stop now.

He once suggested that it would be quite wonderful if all female sports events were won by trans women as it would be good for transgender people. I have no time for him.

Helleofabore · 08/05/2024 04:32

I don’t think people are listening to his message in this article, partly due to his previous doubling down on how intriguing (and wonderful iirc) it would be if males won all the prizes in female sport. When you expect anyone to listen to serious messages, it helps not to have fucked off those who would have spread the message.

I will see if Liew has said anything more in the coming days.

Codlingmoths · 08/05/2024 05:31

Maybe he’s had an epiphany? As reading this I quite like him!

WickedSerious · 08/05/2024 07:53

He's a bit of a dinkle.

This

I had no intention of reading it because I recognise the name and remember what he said about women's sport.

sashagabadon · 08/05/2024 08:46

Was he the guy that wrote about how inspiring it would be for girls to see trans girls on the podium winning all the prizes?
I still haven’t got over that article and quite it when I explain why I no longer read the guardian!

'Wouldn't it be good if men won every female sports event so that other men could be happy'?

It doesn't sound quite so warm and fuzzy when it's translated into plain English.

RandySavage · 08/05/2024 10:09

Liew is an example of someone who was always picked last at games.

Brefugee · 08/05/2024 10:13

added to all that: isn't this something women have been banging on about (not just in sport, in every-fucking-thing) for ever?

but wait, a man has said it now. So other men may listen. Or not. Who knows?

duc748 · 08/05/2024 11:34

This man stopped listening to the dick some time ago! 😃
