Interesting video. Couple of students talking about their actions after a woman was twice exposed to a naked man in a changing room.

These two are “Students Against Tyranny”. They’re having a protest tomorrow at UEA which will probably involve squaring off against TRAs.

They’re right in wanting female spaces to remain female, but are fairly nutty, judging by their social media presence, and spoiling for a fight.

haven't watch the video - is there a transcript?
But so what if they're nutty. Compared to what? the completely normal, rational and sane TRAs?

NCprivatelife · 03/05/2024 18:24

Sorry but that fascist-iconography logo tells me this group have a massive stonking right wing agenda, and don't give two hoots about the rights of women unless and until it allows them to bash trans people.

I hate to sound like my granny but two wrongs don't make a right. And I for one refuse to have the issues I face as a woman weaponised by anti-vax, UKIP-supporting, thick as mince wannabe fascists.

Brefugee · 03/05/2024 18:46

as i said i don't know who they are but why have an issue with them wanting to create a bit of fuss?

Just because you align with them on this issue does'nt put you to the right of Goebbels

crosstalk · 03/05/2024 20:46

The logo seems various - in one case a sort of ban the bomb sign over the union jack or welsh dragon ... and they seem incredibly longwinded. Podcasts are one thing - this is just too boring and disconnected.

No but anyone with an interest in raising the profile of an issue does a massive cringe when a gang of eejits like this start shouting about it as it brings the issue into disrepute. It's like if Laurence Fox starts espousing your cause. Even a blind pig finds the odd acorn, doesn't make the acorn rotten but doesnt mean the pig's onto something in any other respect.

except TRAs apparently, it doesn't bother them that their groups are shrieking twats.

And? Do we set our standards by theirs?

Sorry but that fascist-iconography logo tells me this group have a massive stonking right wing agenda, and don't give two hoots about the rights of women unless and until it allows them to bash trans people.

They started as anti-vaxxers & seem now in search of a cause.

They invited members of our local Womens Rights Network to come & talk about “protecting British children” and “the daughters of England”. We’d rather stand up for the rights of women & children, without any modifiers.

They also don’t apparently know the difference between public right of way & private land, so we have no confidence in their ability to ensure a safe & peaceful protest.

I hope they manage it though. We agree with the right to peaceful protest, as we have done several times.
