Alice Sullivan's review of data/stats/research is open for submission. Anyone can submit examples to strand 1: examples of data collection:

Do you have an example or examples of UK data collection on sex and/or gender identity which you perceived as inadequate or flawed? If so, we invite you to submit them for the review. We will ask you to provide your examples (ideally including screenshots of any relevant questionnaire items) and some basic supporting information about what the data collection exercise was and why you perceived it to be flawed or inadequate.Anyone can contribute to this strand, and there is no need to provide any personal information about yourself.

Those who are research active (eg academics, students, researchers in other settings) can also submit to strand 2: barriers to research.

The call for evidence is open until June 3rd.

Fantastic!

This is brilliant.

Spent a happy hour filling this in this afternoon. You can submit each example as a separate response, so can add more as you think of them!

Annoyingly I have never kept screen shots. Hopefully plenty of others have.

I work for a trade union that fought for equal pay for women members due to sex discrimination but collect data on gender rather than sex and women’s groups are for anyone who identifies as a woman. I’m sure I’ll be able to find plenty of examples!

PaleBlueMoonlight · 26/04/2024 20:09

Just saw a clip of this review being discussed in the house of lords, plus I have just remembered an example. Definitely worth contributing. I hadn't realised this had been commissioned by government (though it might say in the links).

PaleBlueMoonlight · 26/04/2024 20:33

Indeed I guess a call for evidence is inherently a government thing! Very easy to complete and I encourage people to do so.

Here is Alice Sullivan talking about collecting data on sex and gender at an event at QMUL last week (24th April)

Just bumping this thread as today is the last day to submit examples - in case anyone wants to submit something but hasn't had time yet 🙂
