Does anyone know if this organisation is captured?

My daughters school are going to be using them to provide guidance for diversity and inclusion at school

It's a secondary school with 6th form

Any knowledge would be greatly appreciated

They are part of the Google education institute so I would assume so though they seem to be predominantly pushing critical race theory rather than gender identity

Thank you for your question. I can assure you that IESE is not "captured" by any particular group or ideology. Our guidance on diversity and inclusion is based on comprehensive research and best practices to ensure a balanced and inclusive approach. As someone who works closely with these initiatives, I can personally vouch for our commitment to maintaining integrity and impartiality in all our recommendations.

SpanielintheWorks · 12/08/2024 07:37

Hmm. Do you think being a boy or girl is a question of body or of mind?

Do you consider disabilities and the need to adjust for them?

Snowypeaks · 12/08/2024 07:57

Can you obtain any of their materials? Whatever they say, the details will tell you whether they are captured or not.

An interesting style of reply to a four month old thread.

On another thread yesterday, one poster linked to an app which can assess whether text has been generated by AI, and another poster commented how easy she finds it to spot AI generated text in replies on MN, because she comes across it a lot in her job.

I thought that.

An organisation called the Institute FOR educational and social equality clearly has a very political agenda - it is in the name.

83% likely to be AI. Quelle surprise!

For anyone who wants to check a post, I just googled 'free AI checker'. Quillbot wouldn't work with this particular post as it was too short (they wanted 80 words min), but the checker that was happy to check it was smallseotools.

Well, an organisation that trawls the web to autorespond to criticism with AI generated statements certainly sounds legit!

😂😂

Yes nothing says 'we genuinely care about diversity and inclusion' of human beings like responding to questions with a robot 🙄

Tells you all you need to know

Dumbledoreslemonsherbets · 12/08/2024 09:51

Though it's difficult to know why these things pop up... who knows if this bot actually has anything to do with this organization. I find the whole increase in robot responses in all walks of life very dystopian.

JellySaurus · 12/08/2024 10:03

But no ideologically-driven organisation would reply 'We are captured', so it must be genuine < insert wide-eyed innocence emoji>

Our guidance

As someone who works closely with these initiatives,

Which is it?

Dumbledoreslemonsherbets · 12/08/2024 11:55

I actually find the proliferation of AI in daily life a) annoying and b) the opposite of inclusion and customer service, even whilst saying the opposite.

AI is often quite misogynist in my experience too.

I find myself actively avoiding companies where I end up talking to a robot / AI rather than a real person. More and more I'm taking my business to local family run companies where possible

Dumbledoreslemonsherbets · 12/08/2024 12:01

I also find it disturbing where so many companies seem to think - very wrongly - that they can use AI for educational purposes. This is just flat out morally wrong when it comes to kids and RSE/PHSE, where there should be some depth to the discussion not just buzz words (which looking at their website they seem to major in), so if the school is actually paying this company to provide AI generated content to children I'd be raising a complaint to the governors for misuse of school funds. Far better to pay for a supply teacher to release actual real human staff time to do this themselves and tailor to the needs of their students.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 12/08/2024 12:28

Agreed @Dumbledoreslemonsherbets Diversity work in schools should be based on school data and the needs of children and the school community. The courses advertised seem very adult focused with issues like "unconscious bias" that needs very careful planning before using with children - especially younger children.

WarriorN · 12/08/2024 13:34

ICT with Mr P has been really pushing AI in teaching and has developed several apps and services.

I agree, I'm not happy about it. The odd times table song to the tune of the class's fave pop song is ok but the rest feels inappropriate and open to exploitation and mistakes

PatatiPatatras · 12/08/2024 14:44

"Comprehensive research" - red flag.
