On the Newscast podcast. Harriet Harman brought the Equality Act 2010 to Parliament - https://www.harrietharman.org/the-equality-act

To paraphrase the podcast

Adam Fleming: I do a programme called Anti-Social which looks at culture-wars-y stuff, and so many episodes come down to how the Equality Act is interpreted, as you were one of the architects of the EA, do we need a new version? Some amendments to that legislation? It's behind so many of the conversations we have now about trans rights, women's rights, men's rights...

Harriet Harman: No.

Thank you for the tl;dl (didn't listen)

Harman, for me, despite later achievements, will always be tainted by her work with National Council of Civil Liberties and its flirtation with PIE. It's inevitable that she doesn't want to review EqA 2010 because it will open up her can of worms. Sterling example of Henderson's luxury beliefs because the harms are accruing to people other than her.

Reminder that she's the chair at Fawcett. Presumably lined up to be the "go to" if/when (you choose!) Labour win.

The Paedophile Information Exchange links should be enough to have seen her become persona non grata. But there you are.

The Fawcett Society that has done sod all the last decade?

Can’t say I’m surprised. Would it not be a personal and political failing for her to actually admit she was wrong and that the POS equality act that she was involved in devising is rubbish and needs revision (at the very least?)

Regardless of what I think of HH, I think this will be a pretty standard reply from any Labour representative. Anneliese Dodds is on the record as saying that Labour are proud of the Equality Act and I've seen no sign that they're interested in reviewing or changing it.

... and even more proud of the GRA.

Yes, taken together they're regarded by Labour as among their crowning achievements, if I remember Dodds correctly, which is quite something when you consider some of the things previous Labour governments have achieved. With that kind of rhetoric, I don't believe there's a cat in hell's chance that they'll touch the Equality Act.
