I got asked this for the first time today. I was talking to the speak up guardian about a problem at work and was asked how I identify.
I said I am a woman, she said what are your pronouns???? I said I should think its pretty obvious if I identify as a woman unless she was trying to make me say cis which I will never say until Hell freezes over.

Keep strong! I don't recognise the term cis in the same way I don't recognise shiksa or kufr.

Women don't need to identify as one, we just are!

Myalternate · 17/02/2024 13:46

I’m a woman and if asked I’d say my pronouns were Sex Realist.

RandomMess · 17/02/2024 13:49

Most people can't manage to use my name in full nor spell it correctly yet want to bang on about pronouns!! I have a standard English name btw.

GrumpyPanda · 17/02/2024 13:50

Well done except most of us don't "identify as" women, we just are.

Good on you for standing up for yourself and us!

Igmum · 17/02/2024 13:55

I'm with @RandomMess on rarely being pronounced or spelled correctly but I do have the excuse of a strange foreign name.

Well done OP. Have to say I refuse to put my gender identity on forms because I don't have one.

SidewaysOtter · 17/02/2024 14:58

Just answer “no thanks”. They won’t be able to work out if it’s a refusal or those are your pronouns Grin

IcakethereforeIam · 17/02/2024 14:58

It's like asking a non American if they're democrat or republican, a non Muslim if they're Sunni or Shia. It's a belief system I don't subscribe to.

NitroNine · 17/02/2024 16:19

It certainly has echoes of the old “aye, but is he a Protestant Hindu or a Catholic Hindu?” @IcakethereforeIam

Guessing you are NHS then, so what has whatever concern you were being asked about/raised got to do with your birth sex, or hair colour or breast size, for that matter.

I would have said , i have no idea what you are talking about.

nothingcomestonothing · 17/02/2024 18:12

The FTSUG should not be asking you to declare allegiance to a political belief system. They are meant to be neutral.

Absolutely nothing to do with my problem whatsoever. They also asked about my sexuality. I said post menopausal. 😂
