Graham Linehan is coming to NZ in March (Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch) to speak about cancel culture and free speech. I'd like to go to the Auckland one - my first event in IRL.

There are a few of us lurking around. I hope Graham’s tour isn’t derailed by the testeria that surrounded KJK’s arrival! I haven’t seen any mainstream news coverage yet but I’m sure it will come. They’ll probably interview Shaneel Lal.

Yes, I was wondering that too. I saw something on Newshub a couple of weeks ago, but that was purely because I googled Graham's name whilst reading his book. He had just announced his tour at that time. But otherwise it is being kept very quiet. He's probably an unknown name here (his shows are very popular though), but so was KJK until the media found out about her imminent arrival and turned it into a shitshow. Yep agree Shaneel Lal will be very happy to discuss.

I have family in Auckland: the older generation (my generation) appear to have gone along with the TRA line because their late teen/ young graduate children were all for it. Now wondering whether I need to let them know about Graham's visit, which will out me as a terf to them and may make things difficult. Politically they've always been in the centre, possibly leaning more to the right after Covid and Jacinda. It would be interesting to know if New Zealanders here can give me a heads-up on whether, now their children have left home and there's been a regime change, they are more likely to be terfy. Are things shifting over there?

@Abeona I'm not sure if things are shifting, I think most people here don't know what the law says and haven't encountered the things happening in the UK/US/Canada. So those of the 'be kind' ilk are thinking of transwomen as Hayley from Coronation St rather than AGPs or predators. But I don't actually know anyone who is full on TWAW, most when questioned think that of course they shouldn't be allowed to compete as women in sport, that's ridiculous, and no they wouldn't want people with penises in changing rooms with their daughters, etc, etc.
