This conversation last week infuriated me. I like Michael Walker on other topics but on this he drives me mad. Good to see Michelle Dewberry holding the line!

Classic example of Gurwinder Bhogal's observation: When intelligent people affiliate themselves to ideology, their intellect ceases to guard against wishful thinking, and instead begins to fortify it, causing them to inadvertently mastermind their own delusion, and to very cleverly become stupid.

A good addition to that thread was this response (for which I've lost the URL): Intelligent minds can certainly be furiously good at maintaining confirmation bias because they have so much more information and cleverness with which to justify their beliefs.

On a different matter, always reminds me of this.

The specific phrase "move about" reminded me of the male and female visual eye tracking response to dark environments.

I'd be curious to know what the results would be if a study similar to this one; https://news.byu.edu/intellect/study-visually-captures-hard-truth-walking-home-at-night-is-not-the-same-for-women

Was done with trans women and women.
Would the results be more similar to the males or to the females? Or perhaps even half way between the two or neither?

Study visually captures hard truth: Walking home at night is not the same for women

An eye-catching new BYU study shows just how different the experience of walking home at night is for women versus men.
